cracked nexus 5:( crappy rhino shield

So dropped nexus 5 from hip height and thought it would be fine given it landed on its face and has the amazing rhino shield...

It's *&%£# totally cracked ( will be getting in touch with rhino shield.)

But right now need to find somewhere where I can get the screen replaced?

Any recommendations for place to send ? And how much?

I know what rhino shield claim, but it does nothing to protect against cracked screens.

Keep using the phone if pos, don't try fraud as an option or google local phone fixers.

OP: Have you repaired a phone before? I cracked a screen on my old iPhone 4 and managed to replace it myself after watching a few tutorials on Youtube. The kit I ordered came with all the tools required and was a decent screen too. Avoid the cheaper ones as they're rubbish, but if you spend a few pounds on a decent repair kit, you'll probably be getting close to OEM results.

Provided you are a bit patient and don't have fingers made of sausages, it's actually not that hard at all.

Just be prepared to wonder how the hell these companies managed to cut thread on what seems like a grain of sugar.

Well the thread was already on that level, fgs google is always the answer and screen protectors are for scratches not any sort of impact the ultra thin film of plastic isn't magic, but thanks anyway for your judgement.

OP, I would give google a call and find out the cost of repair. It will make you wince though.

Going to call Google, will ignore stupid comment about fraud .

Isn't there a company that can replace the screen for me? Seems silly if there wasn't, I can't see why I would even worry about warranty voiding if I diyed but just worried about making it worse.

If it costs £150 so be it as the phone is totally smashed from this silly 2foot drop which is mental.

This guy is great he actually does this in his spare time and makes a lot of money from YouTube for doing it.. His main job is a driving instructor and he was the one I chose when I done my driving lessons.. Top bloke.

phone a few companies and most were useless.

Google were good but unable to help, no surprise.

LG were actually very helpful and have a official service center here in kent.
Total cost ive been told will be around £156 so im going for that.
Given screen is £100 £56 quid labor isnt too bad.

Wont be using Rhino crappy again though, given the cost and claims it just a waste of money and a far better investment is the bumper with a £4 amazon protector.

Do the Rhino Shield people have a twitter or YT account?? Post on there saying how the shield did not protect your screen despite videos like this:

At the very least you have made sure people know who crap it is,and the company might make a good will gesture to you.

Heck,even trying e-mailing them about how disappointed you are.

Emailed them and they will give me a refund so Lol.

They did say that the angle of impact has to be exactly x amount thus face down, didn't realise myself there was different types of face down impacts so ---.--- ( insert sarcasm)

Either way it's being fixed, although a lot of people have mentioned about nexus 5 having very weak glass compared to HTC/ Samsung. Strange

Probably due to the fact it's completely edge to edge where as most phones have a small lip round the screen which helps when dropped.
