i was at brands hatch yesterday and i just could not get the tyres even slightly warm, track was wet and i was doing 1.16 on an r1 so that wasnt great but there was many more slow people out there. but the nacl end would keep sliding out at droids and the entrance of padoc hill. i have a small amout of blueing but still.. have the come to a point of useless? i got the r1 back in april and done 2k miles the tyres are 2ct's but i dont know when they wer put on the bike.

thoughts?

Go faster :D

Never done a track in the winter so hard for me to comment, but i thought if you're doing a decent pace you should still be getting heat in them. Was the track dry?

nope wet, but others wer getting warm / hot tyres on normal summer road tyres, and i laped one of them.

Gonna have to face it, track temps are **** all so you wont have full grip. You can drop PSI and do short stints between tyre warmers but theyll only be losing heat as soon as you go out.

Theres a reason we dont race this time of the year.

As for michelins - Ive not used them but heard they can be a tough ould bit of rubber. Maybe need pirelli/metzelers for this time of year since theyre such soft sidewalls means the rubber will squidge and move more = more heat.
