All time top 5 life experiences

Not in any particular order.

1. Riding a camel through the Sahara desert.
2. Taking photos of wild kangaroos in Australia (and feeding tame ones and other animals at Healsville Sanctuary.
3. Swimming with sharks in America.
4. Driving over the Golden Gate Bridge in a sports car.
5. Something personal that I don't want to share here, but it is one of the best things that has happened to me.

Maybe more, but this is all I can think of right now on the top of my head. - Thinking about it, I am lucky and have done some, and seen some amazing things. - When I am feeling low, I should think back on things so I know my life isn't that bad. :)

Getting your cherry popped? Oh God, I'm getting ban hammered aren't I? :p

In no specific order:

5# Getting my 1st photo published.
Nothing big, it was only local press and at a local event. Still it was a big deal to me!

4# Being technically dead for 37 seconds at age 15.
Bloody meningitis, I didn't see the light or have an out of body experience, it just felt like I'd been woken sharply from a deep sleep and that I had the mother of all hangovers!

3# My daughter being born.
43 hr labour during which I didn't sleep. I got quite emotional which I blamed on the tiredness. :D

2# Holiday in Grenada.
Specifically swimming in a sulphur spring in the jungle that was naturally heated by the volcano. After an 11 mile walk through the rainforest in a torrential downpour it felt like we were bathing in liquid gold. It stunk though!

1# Standing on the World Trade Centre tower on Sept 9 2001
It was the last day of our lads break and we flew home on the 10th. It didn't seem that significant at the time (although it was awesome).

I found a fiver in my shoe last week, that was a good moment for me.

It was good when I discovered my local chip shop delivered too.

I mean I don't know, who cares, I'm not gonna go round singing Spingsteen's "Glory Days" because the best is yet to come. Why set a high point, it could get better, it could get worse, and if you're constantly dwelling on the best time of your life you'll be depressed it never gets any better.

#1 - Either first off-piste ski run or getting a passenger ride in a Hawk over the Welsh valleys doing hundreds of knots a few hundred feet above the ground.

Now the Hawk is really an amazing experience. How did you mange to get that?

In no particular order

Getting married
Passing my driving test
Honeymooning in Antigua
Getting my first house/mortgage

Sky Diving
Hang Gliding
Backpacking and the time I spent working in Australia
All the fun days out with my niece
Completing house renovations

This list will change significantly this year. Got lots lined up :)

My CCF flight (of which I was the leader) won the week's competition (shooting, survival, navigation, camouflage, recce, assault course etc...) and as part of the prize some of us were given the opportunity for a flight in a hawk. This was back in 1995-96. :)

I know that mine may be trumped (and certainly will be) - but to date this is what makes me go "wow". :) Even if I knew they won't be trumped - I'm pretty happy I've done some amazing things in my life. :)

Unique things that not everyone will have the opportunity/misfortune to experience? Can't beat Seagal sadly :( But...

1: Having a hobby appreciated by people in another country to the point they flew me out there covering all expenses and everything in between.

2: Flying with the Royal Navy in a Sea King Mark 5 as it flew with the side door open and the side facing the ground while I'm harnessed to the centre column taking pictures of my home town.

3: Watching the Northern Lights in -28 degrees temperatures 4 nights in a row and capturing it on film.

4: First car crash :s

5: Driving an original Honda NSX around Canadian hills! (not related to number 4 :p).

Last year was pretty amazing for me as my girlfriend and I managed to fly the nest and get a place of our own. I also completed a qualification I had been working on part time for two years but realistically they don't fall into the top five life experiences for me.

So, in no particular order.

#5 - The first drive after passing my test and being by myself on the open road, with 49bhp of sheer grunt at my command.

#4 - Finishing school, I guess. I really, really didn't enjoy my time at school and I wasn't even bullied. I couldn't imagine what school must be like for people that go through it being bullied all of the time. I just found it a generally rubbish experience which I was happy to get behind me at age 16.

#3 - Christmas of 1998. My parents bought me a Matsui TV, 14" combi with VHS player and a copy of Ocarina of Time. A genuinely happy moment from my childhood.

#2 - Having IBD correctly diagnosed and getting treatment to sustain a "normal" life after a year of hell.

#1 - Losing my virginity.

Too many to quote in just five or choosing which are better than others, so here goes:

#5 - Passing Out in the RM.
#4 - Seeing the Vatican Archives for the first time.
#3 - Meeting Charlton Heston.
#2 - Meeting my Wife.
#1 - The Birth of my Son.

#5 - The day I saw the .gif of Theo
#4 - The day I saw the .gif of Theo
#3 - The day I saw the .gif of Theo
#2 - The day I saw the .gif of Theo
#1 - The day I saw the .gif of Theo

Oh top 5

So many choices.

But they all have already been mentioned.

I lead a pretty normal happy life I suppose not done anything amazing....

Crikey, I was rather drunk when I posted this tripe. Though it has given me a slightly warm fuzzy feeling inside that you've all stepped up to the plate and taken it seriously. I feel like we're learning things about each other - still in that heady, exciting part of our relationship where everything the other one does is cute in some tenuous way and not yet one of the traits that will eventually drive the other crazy enough to murder you in your sleep with an ice pick. Oh God, I hope we're not moving too fast here, GD, I mean we've both been hurt before, but I think - oh God I promised myself I wouldn't say this - but I think I love you!

No particular order:

5. Getting married/honey moon
4. Buying family home
3. Debut MMA fight, fighting in front of all my friends and family and winning, such a buzz it was amazing (Hadn't had a proper fight until then either)
2. Skydive
1. Birth of my daughter

In no particular order other than the births of my children which come at #1

The births of my children.

Riding motorcycles-freedom and skill!

Having a new hip and learning to walk again.

Having my children live with me and them being on the way to being happy again, especially this last Christmas which was made so much more special by this community.

Watching a miscreant be sentenced to life in prison on my behalf and feeling like the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders.
