Morning all,

I appreciate there's a few of these dotted around for this price but I'm helping a buddy out building his PC and he has no idea where to start. Can you guys help me put a build together?

It would be either an upgrade or build for gaming, if any of the old parts can be salvaged that would be amazing. He uses the machine for Gaming, streaming whilst gaming & some video editing. A 128GB SSD would be needed too, however he's willing to drop to 64GB if it means his budget can spread to better hardware.

Current machine has:

Gfx: Radeon 6870 1GB
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 450 Processor
Mobo: MSI MS-7599 870A-G46 AM3 Motherboard
HDD: 500GB.
DVD Drive (will use this, he's mostly digital)
Case: doesn't need replacing).
PSU: 430W supply. Probably needs upgrading.
RAM: 2x 2GB DDR 1333MHz (Mushkin Silverline?)

If you can let me know what is good to keep and better to get a newer that'd be great!

Thanks.

What power supply does he have ? and what speed is his ddr3 . Here is a strating point if you reuse your gpu and ram.

I've asked him to check on both the PSU and RAM. Thanks for that reply so soon, I've realised I've not put enough detail in the top.

He doesn't need a separate hard drive, just an SSD at 128gb (64gb if needs). He also doesn't need a DVD drive as he has one of those as well.

This is his current case: here.

Do you think we can use that case?

Thanks!
