Sadly the way the W220 S (and R129 SL) models have gone The lives of these cars becomes exponentially shorter as they get older due to these new owners leaving them outdoors to rot.

Those are valid points, but who really cares how fast a car goes deep into 3 figures. That kind of performance has no value on the road or track, it's just willy waving in reality.

Simple put if it can go crazy fast into three digits, it will be absolutely stupid at two digit speeds if traction allows.

Need to go and find a video of the Mustang now. The way that car accelerated at 30mph or 130mph was breathtaking and at times I do have naughty thoughts of going back to a car all about power and not so much finesse and handling.

3.5s 30-80mph acceleration, that was enjoyable, never forget having a little fun with a mate in a CSL once, it really made him look like he was not accelerating and the CSL was no slow car:-

Anyway, whatever, S is a nice car but my stand is that the performance aspect of it is a nonsense and you'd do just as well with a 430/500.

I think it would be a bit of a gamble mate, not many S class owners work on there own cars because they are complex for their era and garages are unlikely to source used parts I wouldn't have thought. Also if you get left with a body shell or full interior or some thing that you cant shift it could become a headache.

Why what are people having a dig about? If your car can do 180mph and get there that fast with light mods..well kudos. But I doubt it very much. Could a specR do it with light mods? Again I doubt it. A light and heavily modded s15 maybe. But then the gearbox melts itself right?

I know you have an s15 and want to rep it. Find a video of a lightly modded s15 hitting 180mph not kph.

I could trawl YouTube all day looking for mr2s doing 1/4 in 9 seconds but it doesn't really mean anything or prove anything. .

also please note I was nothing but complimentary in your s15 thread, but that doesn't mean you can post incomparable videos and then claim they are comparable!
