Any feedback on Shogun Bro's Ballista Mk-1?

So being in the market for a new gaming mouse, I was happy to pick up a copy of a fairly recent PC Gamer mag with a "best gaming mouse review" in my local dentist's. (as happy as you can be at the dentist!)

Of all the mice I expected to see, the winner was a Shogun Bro's Ballista Mk-1 - I have never previously heard of them. Found one or two other reviews that seem positive but nothing substantial.

Anyone have one / had one / used one? Any thoughts?

My budget is bang on £50. I think I tend towards a "claw grip" but do go to palm grip over extended periods of play. I would like around 5-8 buttons for MMO's but dont need crazy stuff...

Reading other "spec me a mouse" threads the Rat 5 seems a good contender for my budget. Has anyone used both?

Thanks for all thoughts and feedback!

Aren't the majority of mice at this price range Laser? The Rat5, Corsair M65, even the £75 Roccat Kone XTD all state a Laser on their description page? Or is it a particular type of laser used in the Ballista?

Sorry if i'm being thick... Unfortunately I live in a very rural location with no options (apart from a 2hour round trip) to go and look/try a new gaming mouse out... I am trying to pick from the reviews listed here on OCUK.

So you are saying optical mouse only?

Yes, they are all laser and they're all rubbish :p

I see no reason to buy a laser mouse. The only way to have perfect tracking is with an optical sensor. If you buy a laser mouse you're sacrificing sensor quality somewhere. Be it jitter on certain surfaces, positive acceleration (biggest culprit), z-axis issues if it's a phillips twin-eye sensor, etc. Even the very best laser sensors like the one in the Sensei, while very good quality of tracking, has 5% inconsistent positive acceleration.
