This one looks nice and has a drop down sun shade, that great because I wear glasses.

This next one is a flip-up and looks nice but not sure if it has the drop down sun shade?

Let me know what you think guys & girls thank you for any help/advice :)

As above, the minimum you really want to spend on a helmet is £100.

Decent brands around this budget are HJC or Caeberg, some of the Caeberg's can be found for around £70 on sale and have a very decent sharp rating for the price.

What about something like this? http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/76140

It's a well known but budget brand. The only thing it doesn't have is the sun shade unfortunately.

If you don't mind buying online (I don't suggest this unless you've previously tried on the helmet) then take a look here: http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/1 - my brother and I have both ordered from there and they offer a pretty decent deal with returns on helmets.

As always when this topic comes up, dont buy cheap, search the web for the SHARP ratings and buy the best you can afford, not as in you have the odd £50 lying around that will do, as in, the best you can afford full stop no questions asked.

Its the most important piece of equipment you will buy.

if you do not value your head, then either are fine.. but if you do atleast spend £100+
saying that really doesn't hold up when you look at the Sharp safety ratings.
higher price doesn't always mean good/better
there are some well known names(Arai among them) with £400+ helmets that only get 3 star safety ratings and £50 helmets that beat them with 4 star safety ratings.
look at the SHARP ratings for ideas

After reading what you all have said and even the girlfriend said pay for a better one if it has more protection.

I can now pay around £150 max for a helmet :)

Any recommendations for a flip-up type helmet with the Sun Visor.
My size is large 59-60cm.

Some that look good to me but I will look and check what is available over the next few days before buying.

Thanks for any help.

The most important thing with a helmet is how well it fits. A 5 star helmet that doesn't fit properly will protect you worse than a 3 star helmet that does.
Looking on the internet for a lid is a waste of time as you don't know how well they will fit.

Go to a bike dealer and try helmets on until you find one that fits, then buy it.

This x1000.

Get one fitted at a dealer.

another thumbs up for shark helmets, I cant remember what exact model I have but its got a flip down tinted visor part and inflatable cheek pads which mean you can really get that squashed hamster look without having to force your head into a tiny helmet.

price has nothing to do with how good the protection is
find a helmet you like and fits you, then check its safety rating

Have a look at LS2 helmets they are a massive manufacture and meet all the safety standards (as any helmet sold in the uk should) but only recently getting popular over here. I just got a nice flip one with built in sunvisor for about £70 quid and the visor is pinlock ready too which is a bonus. Quality wise it seems better than my much more expensive caberg and it does not rain on the inside like mine and a few of my friends cabergs! As others have said though fit is most important though, ill fitting helmets are very dangerous and can be rather uncomfortable!

Yeah try a few on, find one you like then buy it online were it's cheaper, shop prices are a joke most of the time

Not always, as in my local store the prices are actually this same, as the ones on sportsbikeshop.co.uk.

E.g. Shark s700 with same graphics £154.99 in my local store and on that site. The price with S600 was pretty similiar, the textile jacket from RST, I was looking at had a very similiar price it was something like £2-3+|-.

I would recommend you check the store first, write down the prices of the staff you liked and then check the online stores.
