Well, I have a PS3 laying around not being used, next to my 360 also not being used.

I'm bored of PC gaming at the moment. So to tide me over until the sequel of my all time favorite game (no judging!) Castlevania Lords of Shadow...

I figured I would tackle a God of War... Which one shall I play? God of War III has the best score, but I was told Ascension would be better?

God of War Collection (Contains I & II) then play God of War III, it's a great story with better gameplay. Ascension is a prequel, there is also God of War Collection II which contains ports of the PSP games I believe... they are still considered canon as far as I know but just not necessarily linked to the main storyline.

I'm only looking for one game, as my time is restricted. So don't want to flood my self in games from the series.

1&2 collectors addition. Will only be a few quid... Once you have finished 1 you'll want to jump straight onto 2 and then you'll be buying 3 straight after that.

I thought about this, but I think the graphics would get to me as I've been spoilt by PC graphics for so long.

You'll forget about the graphics once you are into the game.

I finished number 3 first and then bought 1-2 straight after as i felt i was missing out on the story. Glad i did as the full story is brilliant.

Well that's a shame, they're pretty epic when played together. If you have no interest in the story and you're focusing on gameplay only, III is your best bet as stated above.

Did you feel any different about not doing the first or 2nd in order? I will grab III I think, but if I do indeed fall in love, will it be much of an impact playing I and II after?

Castlevania holds my heart for the story it tells through the game. So if it's really that important to play the God of War games in order for the story, I might make a sacrifice lol.

No, not greatly important. But you will understand things better knowing what went off.

DMC's is what got me for the story out of any game i have played.

I never played the GoW on the PS2, but I bought the GoW collection for PS3 from Japan (I think it was released months before UK) and I also bought GoW 3.

I remember starting to play GoW 1 and I was like, oh the graphics don't look great and the controls just feel too dated so I put it down for a few months.

I remember then telling myself to boot up GoW 3 and check out eh graphics and see if it feels better for a few mins and it did. So I deleted my GoW 3 save game and plugged number 1 back in.

Next thing I knew I had completed 1, 2 and 3... I loved every minute of them all. And I forgot all about the graphics after a while, they are fantastic games! Number 3 still looks graphically impressive to me.

I really felt a sense of completion playing 1 through 3 back to back as well, I'd deffo suggest that.

Still need to get Ascension, I will one day!

If time is an issue, then you could just catch up with the story from one of them youtube vids that explains the story in minutes.
