Anyone done it? I've visited, but never more than a holiday. Anyone lived there? Things to know?
Considerations and all that over and above:
-Visas
-Healthcare (same as here in Switzerland)

Shoot. I'm considering where to drag the family next.... or Singapore, maybe.

America is hard to get into unless you are sponsored as part of your work.

Then there's the 2 week holiday (if you're lucky) you get a year when working and costly health insurance.

I don't get holiday now. Self employed, so nothing for me. I work until I die, apparently. I know about health too. You have that here in Switzerland too.
I'd obviously not just move and then attempt to look for work, because that is clearly retarded. But there are many interesting jobs there, which I thought would gain me a working visa?

The company has to appeal to say why you should get the job over an American citizen. So basically you need to have a skill which no one else can currently do, or be of a much higher standard than those who already live there.

Or marry an American

Or invest £250k into a business.

If you have a company that has been running for 5 years with money going through the books
then buy a small company in the US and transfer the directorship to the US one BOOM your in.

CA is a very expensive place to live.

Thanks, good to know. More informative than "it's not that easy" :p I have tons of skills me; like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills...

As for cost of living, I'd assume anyone who says that about the US has never lived/ been to Switzerland. :D

That seems too easy, surely the company has to be turning over X amount of profit for 5 years running?

Go to Singapore!

I've recently bumped into quite a few people who have lived/are living in Singapore and the standard of living, according to them, is awesome!
