Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 4th February 2014]

It's hard to improve on Moyes(from a non Utd fan's perspective), top of my list would be, Kinnear, Alladyce(though on simple principle of him thinking he's so good I don't want him to ever get a top job), McCarthy, Redknapp.

More seriously, Utd should go and offer Heynckes(sp?) some serious money to come, take the team for a interim rebuilding job, and have him find a crapload of youth players and bring in the right coaches to train up the next generation like German teams are doing today.

Utd is a big enough team, with a big enough budget to be a draw to any top managers, they should be going and offering the job to the best managers in the world, not the most mediocre.

I still don't quite get Fergie, I can't believe he couldn't realise how unsuitable Moyes was.

And yet your little cherry picked google quote says Everton looked much fitter than United at the start of last season. The cherry picking missed out twice that article says Everton just had much better technical footballer that year.

I think you missed the whole point of why they were fitter and had a more technical approach...don't you?

Anyway, gImp is getting bored and you are stuck in your opinions so moving on....

...........

Mourinho should have been the United choice to begin with, and outside of Klopp or perhaps Conte I can't really think of anyone at the moment who would be available.

I've never believed Fergie actually supported Moyes as his successor. I can't help but feel he was coerced into issuing a press release saying he chose him and he's the way forward etc by the board just to keep the fans happy (If they appointed a coach Fergie didn't like the fans would go ballistic)

Yep, cyKloppo looks the most realistic candidate. Judging by this season he's becoming bit jaded in Dortmund. Squeezed every bit possible from BVB, so prolly seeking for new challenges wouldn't be unrealistic.
Btw he said himself, i'm coming when my english is improved.

Everton also just have better technical footballers than in previous seasons <- According to your article which is law because we changed players.

As for you saying anyone is stuck in their opinions, hilarious. I guess you haven't googled Irony yet :(

Sorry Gimp you can go back to your normal service now :)

Indeed, who said it was just one factor as to why any team, including Everton have a good start or continuance to a season, there are many reasons why Everton had a great start last year and why United have had a poor one this year, overtraining and changes to the back room are just two of them, I did not suggest otherwise..however for the context of the point being made and for which you wanted clarification about training regimes at Everton and how they impact players, particularly highly technical players the point stands and the article expresses similar views on Moyes' reputation as I did, and the article also illustrates and supports the view I expressed. More importantly the article also illustrates the point that this was the first season under Moyes (which also happened to be his last) where such tactics were instituted and Fellaini in an earlier article expressed the view that when he arrived at United Moyes had reinstituted, to his surprise, his earlier 'old school' regime. Moyes is a very reactive manager, and while that works with a team like Everton, it is not so effective with a team like United where a more proactive approach has been the norm for many years.

Now clearly you don't like it, can't or won't accept it, and will (as pointed out by others to me) that this is not the first time this has been an opinion you are vehemently opposed to, nonetheless I feel that the opinions expressed are self evident by both the results and what we see on the field and in the physio's room. Agree or not, but I have supplied reasoning for my opinion whereas you have offered nothing in return. If you wish to convince someone of an alternative view and perspective is it more effective to explain your view and reasoning for it rather than simply oppose those you disagree with.
