Please spec me a few parts

I need a new CPU & Heatsink/fan, Motherboard, and Memory with a budget of £300-400


Ideally I would like at least 8GB RAM

I currently already have:

GPU - MSI Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 660
PSU - Corsair HX650
Case - Antec P280
Heatsink/fan - A big Alaska one, cannot remember but it's super quiet and works well, would go with them again.



The stuff I'm replacing is coming from an old HP PC (Intel core 2 Quad, 4GB RAM, generic mobo)

The RAM is not cheap but worth it. If you aren't going to overclock, then the latest stock Intel cooler is good/quiet enough (from my perspective anyway), and you could aim for an i7-4770/i7-4771, for that budget.

That motherboard brings a free cooler, so you could see which you liked best, stock or Civetta. Either would be fine for a non-K chip. Motherboard is still a Z87 in order to use 1600MHz+ memory.

Cannot go wrong with that.

Motherboard is superb and the cooler is decent, well worth £20, easily.

Slightly over and the CPU cooler wouldn't be any good above stock but managed to get a 4770K option that you could then upgrade down the road with a better cooler:
