I found my old copy of the original Black and White by lion head studios and loaded it up but my god it looks dated... anyone know of any good Mods to make it beautiful or increase the playability of it etc?

Was a good game in it's day - cant even remember what card I had back then. I remember finding the box for B&W2 a while back. Nostalgia.

Don't think it works on Vista/Windows 7 and 8 and there's not patches IIRC as I tried it ages ago and it wouldn't work for me. :(

Amazing game though, wish I could play it again.

Yeah, it's shame that quite a few of these old games don't run on modern systems. I wanted to fire up Jane's Fleet Command the other day, but it just refuses to launch for some reason.

It was a good game, I wouldn't say great though, it suffered from a lot of hype, and a lot of promises made that were never delivered upon.

Guys, its running fine for me and I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on the system in my sig..... just installed and played with no issues

Loved the original, still have B&W2 kicking about somewhere. B&W 2 could have been amazing, but the much MUCH smaller creatures was a bit of a pain, they used to be able to stomp things beautifully.

Maybe one day a #3 could sprout up from somewhere?

I heard they put the series on hold indefinitely, which is a real pity... I never took to B&W2 like I did the first, granted some things where better... those miracle tower things that caused earth quakes and stuff but it was dumbed down... I mean being able to win most rounds just by building your town up sucked! The soldiers thing was a joke too just really not thought out well enough...

I think instead of doing a 3rd, they should maybe reboot the series similar to what's happening with the Carmaggeddon reboot... That I think would be awesome!

Yeah the creature was a fantastic idea and on today's graphics would look awesome. Finding the secret stuff was fun too.

Now go and find your beach ball or I will slap you Gorgo!

:D

There are patches, granted only a couple, & it does work on W7, or at least it does on my W7 64 bit.

Was there not a game breaking bug that wouldn't let you progress onto the next world in B&W.
Sure I remember buying a PCWorld issue because it had the patch on CD... :D

Would love a remake with updated graphics, nothing else would need to be changed.

Remember trying to unlock a different creature by collecting sheep and stuff. When your creature ate the villagers etc lol..

I found after a couple levels you had done it all and just became repetitive. I thought there was going to be more about the game but I just didn't take to it very well. The pet idea was great and wish they had a dungeon keepereque game that had this big pet that would lead minions into battle!

This was the game that made me buy a gaming PC [AMD Athlon 1.33GHZ - Geforce 2MX - 512mb RAM] which was quite a beast when I bought it, esp. the CPU which was the fastest available at the time :D .... oh and I managed to oc it to 1.37ghz with the dip-switches on the mobo, which was the only way on the board I had... it was still a thrill, doing my first oc

I loved the game, though I never seemed to get far with it... just playing around with the creatures was joy enough and it looked amazing.

I still have it in the loft somewhere and I may just dig it out and see how awful it looks now :)

I played B&W on my Athlon 800 and Geforce 2 xD

I remember it having good graphics, I bet if I load it now it will look really crap. Fun game though

Back when I was gaming on a ps1 (no pc's for me back then lol) there was a rumour that Black and White was coming to ps1 - this never happened but I was interested in the game, still sounds like a nice concept/game - how have the games aged? Would it be worth picking up 1 or 2 and playing it today without ever playing them before (I know I can go back and play a lot of old games and enjoy them, but I'm pretty sure a lot of that is nostalgia and if my first experience with some of these games were today I'd say I wouldn't get into them at-all)
