The Official Thor: The Dark World

Didn't think much to this film in all honest truth. I felt the scope of it was rather limited with a tiny piece of london being "invaded" by the smallest army ever that don't even fire their weapons. I also thought that there was too much humour, especially around scenes that really shouldn't have it, such as the apex of the story. Acting was pretty good throughout, but I just thought that the storyline really lacked scope and execution.

5/10

It wasn't an invasion, that wasn't the point. They only needed to be there for 7 minutes. And yeah, I hate it when films are funny, the cheek of it!!! :p

I thought it was excellent, pretty much throughout. Was a tad slow till Thor went to Loki though. And Jane Foster seems utterly pointless. Surely if you're Thor you go for Jane's hot and funny sidekick, or that ridiculously hot Goddess of War who clearly wants you?

Definitely. There has been absolutely nothing to explain, in this film or the previous one, why Thor is attracted to her - other than her being fairly hot. Her attraction to him is obvious (super powerful guys who can fly don't grow on trees I guess), but the converse just seems entirely contrived. There has been absolutely no development of this - we're just supposed to accept that Thor is interested in her because...? She has a lot of screen time? She's a major character? She hit him with her car? Maybe he likes delicate things that he can't ever "let loose" on properly?

I understand why Natalie Portman dislikes playing the character - she has no depth! This whole dynamic is the weakest part of the Thor films, and just feels shoe-horned into the plot.

Saw this last night.

I enjoyed the trailer to the new Hunger Games.

Jennifer Lawrence..

Saw this last night and thought it was pretty decent, still preferred the first one but this one is equally as good. Loved the humour in it though especially Loki when helping Thor, changes his appearance to Capt America:p.

thought Loki was killed but at the end, he ends up being Odin?? confused about that.

again confusion with the end part after the frist set of credits with Benecio Del Toro being the keeper of 5 relics and he says something along the lines of 4 or 5 more to go...guess this will probably lead to the next avengers or Thor??

All in all not bad, definitely a blu ray buy for me when it comes out.

That's likely to be expanded upon a little in Guardians of the Galaxy next year, and will probably be the main theme of the "phase 3" films that will come after Avengers 2.

If you want to know more, you can google about Thanos and the Infinity Gems / Infinity Gauntlet.

Benicio Del Toro is playing the collector, that scene was shot by James Gunn and is a precursor/introduction to an element of his film Guardians of the Galaxy.

The aether (Power or Reality)and the tesseract (Space) are infinity gems, which when together form the infinity gauntlet, which holds 7 gems, his line refers to him now knowing the location of 2, so 5 more to go

I have my own idea or theory about this but why does Odin reveal to Loki that they are not gods and that they die even though they live to 5000 ?

Which is?

Watched this recently, thought it was awesome! Will watch again.

Well. Apart from the fact that what Odin said was totally at odds with the Norse mythology, I believe the God's start to die due to a lack of belief in them that disappears over time. What's your take on this?

I believe the idea is (in the Marvel universe) that Norse mythology is just human interpretation of the people and events that appeared to them at the time.

A quick perusal indicates that since they are caught in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, engineered by Those who sit on High in Shadow (Marvel) they would have no alternative but to die. Obviously any writer worth his/her salt could write them out of this if they so wished. My initial interpretation was too literal (it seemed).

It was interesting to know that Loki was going to be killed then and there however they realised he was too much of a loved an popular character so they had to re-write the whole ending....

I actually enjoyed this - I think it helped that I went into it expecting total trash, since I hated the first film, it felt like the actors have settled into their roles a bit more than the first film, and it was a lot more believable.
