R9 280x - Faulty DVI port?

Hi,

I have recently upgraded a PC to use a Powercolor R9 280x. When I first plugged everything in (using the dvi port) my monitor remained blank when booting. I spent a long time checking it was seated properly, the power cables, and couldn't find anything. It did disable the onboard graphics since the on board dvi also stopped working.

I removed the card, plugged into the onboard dvi, and that works fine. When I plugged the card back in, it stopped outputting on the onboard graphics as I expected (which to me, indicates the video output is directed to the graphics card as it should be). After a lot of umming and arring, I plugged in an adapter to the miniport to allow for a dvi connection through the miniport connection. After plugging it into the miniport, everything works fine. The card will be used for mining, so i'm not too fussed, but I wonder why it happened.

I am curious, is there anything which could prevent the dvi to output, or is it a faulty dvi port? Should I try to get it replaced, or should I just live with it (it doesn't bother me, but perhaps some day I will sell it). Could it be a sign there was something wrong with the manufacturing of this card, and perhaps it will die early? Mining wise, i'm getting fairly good results, only 600Kh/s but it's running at 80 celcius and it's very, very quiet.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,
