Is 850w PSU OK for sli 780?

OK thanks that makes a bit more sense to me. Ive upped my v core from 1.3 to 1.325 and I will give it a go.

Incidentally I hooked up a multimeter to the 12v rail on my PSU and it ranges from 11.97 at low load to 11.99v rock solid with valley and occt linpack test running at the same time.

It'll be more than fine with a good 850w. I'm running sli 780s with a small overclock on a HX750w and it runs fine at full pelt. However, the heat and fan noise can get to me a bit so a I tend to frame limit or use vsync where I can to avoid wasting power for frames I won't see/use. Keeps the noise and heat in check.

Ive always found the bf games to be very good at exposing a problem with an oc. Prime/ibt stable for hours on end, multiple ibt runs. Fired up bf3 and it would crash inside a few minutes on 0x124. If you look in event viewer, youll find whea event 19 cpu id errors correlating to the time of the crash. Theese were the issues i had on my 3770k, bumping vcore a few notches cured it.

So far so good. Ill lower it slowly as .025 is quite a jump up and see how it goes.
Thanks for the input

Well at least that does seem to suggest that the extra load of the second 780 is affecting the stability of your overclock.

In some ways applying simple logic to such complex systems doesn't always work. How different gfx cards draw their power and even how abruptly they change the power they are drawing can theoretically effect other components. Yes your PSU should be fine, but if its suddenly getting a very high load, there's always the possibility of having a drop in voltage elsewhere, even if its only for a fraction of a second it can be enough to cause instability.

Sometimes all you can do is try things to see whats helps fix it.....

I ended up going back to a single card and my overclock was rock solid again but the itch got me so I got a second classified and an 1000w EVGA P2 PSU and the issue has returned. :(

So think you must be spot on about the extra load on the CPU.

Ive lowered the CPU to 4.2 and put my ram down to 1600 and its stable again.
Ill just need to bump it up little by little and hopefully get back to 4.6.

CPU back up to 4.6 stable RAM still at 1600. Think Im pushing the IMC too hard at 2133. Ill have a go at 1866. :)
