Hi all,

apologies for the silly request but can someone please tell me what is the official name for Windows 8.1 Professional which can be installed on a newly assembled computer with completely blank SSD.
I only found one link in the international Amazon.com (not the UK one) which reads "Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - Full Version". But I can't find the same in UK. I found the non- pro version but I need to buy the Pro.
Also- Full Version means you don't need ANY previous Windows to be installed, right?
Why is it so hard to find such thing online? Did they change the name somehow? It used to be call System Builder before...

Cheers guys and thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot, Mynight.
I just checked Amazon for Windows 8.1 Pro and it does say Full VErsion on the box on the image, just not in the title of the offer. Strange.
Anyway, if that is indeed the case I am buying it.

Cheers mate and have a good week.

Well, I am confused. The cheapest price I found so far was 159.00GBP and Overclocekrs sells it for 107.00GBP and that is not even an offer price. Is that even possible? Why is so cheap here? The description doesn't say if you get something less.
Thank you for the link by the way, Mynight.

Well if Microsoft store can offer it as a download for just shy of £100 £106 on DVD seems like a bargain :)

As said there's so much variance in pricing out there its disgusting. Amazon is a marketplace now like eBay isn't it? As in small companies can sell their own wares. Only thing I can think of to explain the price difference.

They normally have it down. I can only guess that the ocuk version is lacking the wmc but it doesn't say so and the amazon one does say it has it

core version maybe...not pro. it's 189.99.

they do have a marketplace but they also sell these products direct.

WMC is not included with any of them. it's an extra £7 or so from microsoft.

@branskyj, you should edit out the competitor names and pricing in your post above. it's not allowed.

So the version from your OCUK link is in fact a full version Windows 8.1 Pro with DVD included? Sorry to keep asking but 20 min ago I ordered at 159.00 and need to know if I should cancel the order and get this one instead. Besides this one has a purple picture and all the rest had blue one (stupid I know but you never know).
What was I thinking anyway and didn't check my favorite website first anyway? :)

I just sent a Webnote to Overclockers but in case you know I won't wait for their answer.
Cheers buddy.

Sorry it was indeed the standard version :( just popped up in googles shopping search.

Ok so I agree how on earth is ocuk doing oem for £107 :D

Cheers marc2003 I thought I had it cracked :D evidently not haha.

All I can say is my version definatly allowed a clean install.

*pretends he never posted in this thread*

I'm still intrigued to know how ocuk can sell it so cheap :) I know they're normally competitive with everyone but that's quite a reduction.

I know, right. And that is the regular price, not an offer.
Unless they have missed something from the description, like it's an update and not full version, or maybe it's just the licence code and not DVD (if that's even a practice), or... who knows.
I just cancelled the other order and will get this one tomorrow morning. Just in case will ring OCUK to ask first though.

the only difference is you have to pick either the 32bit or 64bit version. i think perhaps you get both disks in the more expensive pack.

even if you ordered the wrong version, it wouldn't matter because your license is covered for both so if you really dropped a clanger and ordered 32bit, you could still download a 64bit ISO image and use that.

Hmm, I always though you got only one DVD and then while installing the OS you get the option to choose whether to go 32 or 64bit. I haven't needed 32 bit since forever anyway. And that thing about the licence covering both versions is cool too. Never mind if I still have to download the right version.
Cheers marc2003.
