Metal tyre caps

They can be an arse to get off - had to resort to pliers once with mine. If you check your tyre pressures regularly they you won't have an issue. Leave them for 6 months, over winter etc then you might struggle...

I had some cheap ones which corroded after about 3 months, had to get new valves fitted on 3/4 tyres. Not worth it just go for plastic ones.

BMW came with them on. Before I even drove it away I asked that the dealer replace them with plastic ones, they really do have a terrible habit of becoming nigh on impossible to remove.

I had some on my RS4, which a tyre depot thought would be better when I had the tyres replaced. I had a flat tyre, not a cat in hells chance of getting the metal cap off in a car park as it was stuck tight. Walked to the shops to get a pair of pliars then promptly broke the valve and ended up going home on a flat bed trailer as it was a Saturday around 6pm and all the tyre depots had closed! Never again.

Those valve caps are a poor idea IMO. They effectively bypass the function of the shrader valve so you are relying only on the seal within the cap to retain air in the tyre.

The ones on my lexus are prone to seizing. I guess most drivers don't check them all year and they only get checked when serviced. Some little scumbag had a couple of mine a while back so I just replaced with black plastic ones... Good job I did really as when they do seize they normally break the expensive tpm jobbie and they have to be replaced.

bit of copper grease on the threads when they go on, always come off fine for me, got metal caps on two sets of wheels, no problem

Had metal free spinning ones on my car once. Never fused but because of the centrifugal force when the wheels were spinning, over time they cracked the valves on the stem and i had 2 flat tyres at the same time while driving down the motorway.

Always just stick to plastics now...

They effectively bypass the function of the shrader valve so you are relying only on the seal within the cap to retain air in the tyre.

What function? the valve is sprung to keep air in. The caps are solely to keep dirt and liquids out so that the valve doesn't stick and the rubber parts of the valve don't decay.
Either way, metal caps didn't do very well on my bicycle (stuck fast), I wouldn't dare put them on a car.

Got metal valves and caps on mine, tiny slither of grease on the threads and only nip them up, no issues at all.
