X-Men Day of Future Past (2014)

Do we get Nimrod or will they leave him for a sequel? and if so then that leads the potential for a Bishop and Cable tie in

I love the xmen franchise, especially the cable/bishop storyline, but that trailer made the movie out to be a snoozefest.

Still, this is an early trailer, so I'm not too disheartened.

There was a black dude with long hair - I assume he is Bishop?
And if there is Bishop will there be cable?

The trailer makes it seem like Wolverine, once again, is the focal point of the movie, ie. he is the only one capable of going back in time and delivering a message to young Professor X.

The storyline which I like is Bishop/Cable, not another Wolverine movie.

In all the X-men stuff, there really is too much focus on Wolverine.

I'm a massive Wolverine fan, but it takes the biscuit.

I watched the X-Men cartoon (Not Evolution) and even that had quite a lot of Wolverine focus.

Well they got to get the most out of Hugh working his ass off to look that good I guess. Anyway didnt Jackman say he had pretty much finished with Wolverine as a character now as he literally hates the lifestyle required to maintain that physique.

"They are working on it [X-Men] now, and it would have to be very compelling for me to do it again. I've been doing it for 10 years.""

It was Kitty in the original story, but obviously we havent really seen anything of Kitty or for that matter any of the other X-Generation.

It would be nice to see Cable, but I would have imagined we are leading towards House of M in the next major movie after this?

Well out of 100+ X-characters over the years, he is easily the most popular.

This thread is epic, only can someone on here could refute someone's suggestion cyclops can burn holes through anyone ;)

I always wanted a scene where cyclops just blasted wolverine and left a hole in him.

Agree with the talk regarding wolverine being the main point of the film.... I was really hoping days of future would fix all the "cannon" stuff in the films and franchise and wolverine mess of films and at least attempt to go forward a bit more better.

Also was hoping they replace all actors, bring a cyclops that is the leader of xmen and give everyone screen time and decent origins and not a wolverine only story.....

And hopefully work out some deals with the other franchises spiderman and xmen are all part of the marvel world indeed so why not have Avengers and all team up ;)

Spiderman is Sony and won't be part of the Avenger-verse as it stands. Same with X-Men - they seem content to keep that in it's own universe even though that is Marvel-owned, probably because it's already an ensemble cast and Marvel's Avenger-verse has a load already, plus this lot being added:

House of M would be interesting but hugely Wolverine focused and could be a bit random without the Avengers tie in.

I don't know why they haven't just stuck the comic arcs. Some of the stuff over the last 10 years has been great you could have went House of M>>Civil War >>Secret Invasion>>Dark Reign>>Seige.

I don't mind the films but they are just a little random and tend to jump around too much.

Hope they can spend some team showing more of the 'minor' characters in this film and not just focus on the likes of Wolverine but i'm not going to hold my breath.

Want to see more Colossus! :D

Its all to do with film rights - Sony own the spiderman rights and fox own the xmen rights. If either fail to make a new character film within 5 years I think it is, the rights will revert back to Marvel, freeing them to make their own movie.

It all comes from Marvel not having their own production studio until very recently (iirc The Incredible Hulk was the first proper Marvel film... May have been Iron Man.. I can't remember) and the rights to characters was previously farmed out to other studios. Same reason you won't see the Fantastic Four or say, Blade/Punisher unless the rights lapse and Marvel wants to pick them up. Obviously some franchises are worth more than others so some studios are reluctant to let them go - hence the spidey and F4 reboots.

Personally I love the MCU and would love to see Spidey/Xmen/Dr Doom etc added in, but can't see it yet.

Not to go completely off topic, I'm really looking forward to this - Big fan of all the Xmen/Wolverine films and can't wait to see Apocalypse.

They should work together its money after all....

Spiderman is a guest Avenger or backup Avenger, even in the animation he works with nick fury and shield operatives and Agent Phil Coulson, even in the spiderman reboot the same tech and back drop looks identical to iron man>all avenger films so it looks like its connected already.

Anyhow hopefully this xmen film is showing all the characters from xmen and not all wolverine...
