As to whether they do anything to the 183 its a tough one. The gun with hesh is a little silly for the amount of damage it can do, but its not a tank where you can point anywhere and do 1750 damage, unlike a lot of the T10 td's firing heat. You are actually required to aim at weak spots with the tank.

If they nerf HESH they need to increase the ammo capacity of the tank and reduce the reload. However I don't think they need to do this as you do need skill to actually one shot things as you say, ie you need to aim at the weak spots. Even when you do this you can get trolled by missing the weak spots or by hitting spaced armour...and doing only around 600 damage.

OK, what am I doing wrong here? Enemy tanks that are easily within view range of my tank are just disappearing from, or just popping into, view right in front of me. This is with clear line of sight too. Example, the last game I got destroyed by a T18 who just popped into view right in front of me and fired a single kill shot. I was in a fully upgraded Cruiser III. How does that happen?

First few things to ask.
Is your crew all 100%? As this greatly effects spotting range.
Do you have anything to aid view range? Binoculars?
TD's have very good camo, T18 has 13.5 when moving which is high along with your 320m view range which is a little low.
Oh and the game like to troll players :D

Camo must have improved on this release, I've had tanks cruise by on the other side of the road and not spot me.
I've also learnt that if I fire and get spotted, if I just remain still I'll recloak. Before I was moving back and that was just keeping me visible.

This T-43 sucks though, I'm being matched against T29's which are at least a tier above me even though it says VII.
I mean 279mm turret armour to my 90mm!!!

Just F off

sodding 80K XP to get rid of it too :(

T-43 is a great tank. T29 has a strong turret but it's hull is pretty weak. Try shooting it from the side (you shouldn't be expecting to sit in front of heavy tanks in a medium tank)

T-43 is like any medium I have played, there are times that you will need to load premium ammo to pen your opponents.

T29 hull down? Relocate and find another target or go at him from another angle as suggested by Puppet.

I too hated the T43, I was gutted it only had the T34-85 gun, however non of the tier 7 mediums are OP, you need to play sneaky and flank.

I did well in mine by the end of the grind and actually came to like it.

57% win rate

Why are we classed as the same tier? Even it's hull armour is better than mine.
I've got 11 inches better view range but that's the only thing I've got, I always do badly against American tanks.
I do seem to bounce a few more shells in this T-43 though.

So many maps are for camping though, there are only a few maps where scouting pays off.
Same old "Half go down the left and half go down the right..."

My favourite tactic is to wait a bit and sneak down the middle, twice the spotting but I rarely survive the game.

You have picked my favourite tier 7 tank, the T29.
It is very strong at tier 7, however it's job is a heavy it should be where the action is on the front line.

Your T-43 is a different style of play, it's a true medium, your goal is to put dirty flanking shots into the enemy heavies whilst they are reloading or engaging other targets.

I run coated optics on my mediums and often use them to 'scout' if there is nothing to aim at.

Same, camo net and optics on every tank I play.
Actually I quite like the scouting role but often there is nobody watching you to back you up, so many people are just playing a one person game.

With a medium I don't use a camo net.
I would use rammer, optics, and vert stabs

or rammer, optics and binocs if vert stabs cant be fitted.
With a medium, do your spotting from behind cover, rocks, hills buildings etc.

Mediums are the most fun to play, and can scout better than light tanks on occasion.
Just don't expect heavy tank firepower

Also you need to play as an opportunist, don't focus 1 enemy, just take the easy shots as soon as you see them.

Tracking opponents to allow your team mates to kill is also and excellent medium tactic.

Saying this, I have a T71 which is one of the best light tanks and I don't enjoy playing it.

I would take a good medium over a light any day.

Isn't a camo net important for a scout?

On a TD while you will spend the majority of your game time stationary waiting for an opertunity, yes. On a scout where you need to drive around spotting enemies, no.

Dont get me wrong, it might be useful to have once you have arrive at your favorite spotting bush but speed is a scouts strength and you need to be able to relocate depending on how the battle unfolds.

I'd take a toolbox over camo net any day in a scout/medium

It only helps if you are a passive scout, i.e. standing still. Most good scout players generally won't be doing this unless they find an optimal passive scouting position.

On most of my tanks I use:
Heavies: a Gun rammer, Ventilation and Vertical Stabiliser/GLD.
Mediums: Rammer, Vents, V.Stabiliser/GLD
Lights: Optics, Binocs, Vents
TDs/SPGs: Rammer, Camonet, Gun Laying Drive

There are exceptions and usually I'll go with Vert Stabs over GLD on the heavies and mediums, but they aren't available on all tanks.

I sneak between bushes, wait for camo to cloak and look at the map for a bit,
then move on to the next bush/low ground.

I've always had camo, binoculars, optics, although I went with toolbox on the T34 and should really invest in fire extinguishers as well

Ahem, I may have to take that back about the T29, I've just been nailing the crap out of one in the last game :D Hitting that lower glacis plate works.
Helps if they spin around aimlessly and don't fire back of course :)

I keep seeing people trundle down slopes, stop and fire. Then wonder why they get nailed.
Their nice 100mm of slopey armour (effective) is just a flat wall of 50mm (actual) tin when they go downhill... :o

100mm armour is still 100mm just without a slope. The angle isn't displayed in the game

Slope adds x amount of effective depth though,
at least that's how WoT's mechanics are supposed to work

pretend this says 50mm
