Literally.

'Looking rather mournful, on a lead being held by a long-haired Taliban fighter, the small reddish-brown dog was paraded for a Taliban cameraman, reports the BBC's David Loyn in Kabul.'

Is it wrong of me to find this kind of funny? It reminded me of a news report from North Korea:

"Despicable human scum Jang, who was worse than a dog, perpetrated thrice-cursed acts of treachery in betrayal of such profound trust and warmest paternal love shown by the party and the leader for him," a statement by the agency said.

I feel a little sorry for the dog. It has no comprehension of what's going on. I just hope if they do kill it, it's quick and painless.

That said, if it has GPS on it, the US now know where the noobs are.

No it's not funny.

I just hope the dog had a quick death if it is dead. It knows more of loyalty and courage than the filth who parade it around like some twisted trophy. I personally value the dogs life above the people who took it.

As sad as it is, I imagine this is part of the reason why that dog was trained for it's role... the army would rather lose a dog than a soldier.

Surely all the Americans have to do is shout "here boy!" really loudly and wave some sausages in the air, and the dog will come running back of its own accord?:D

If it scarpered to the enemy during a fire fight, it isn't that well trained. And it's not like the Taliban were waving pork sausages around to entice it over.

It's just ******* fighting *******

In theory that some imagery, in practise it's a damn mess. And ultimately everyone gets **** on by everyone else.

Trying to find it funny with no luck. I'm sure the dog will have suffered.

I tend to like the more extreme sides of things in music, cinema, literature, and I spent many years on 4chan, but I find it difficult to raise a joke about animal cruelty.

I understand what the OP is saying, it's funny to say the dog is "imperialist" when it has no political leanings whatsoever, just loyalty to its superiors. But that only makes it kind of sadder.

In the video they also show off what looks like an m4 with all the bells and whistles attached (silencer and high spec optics) which is definitely a special forces weapon. No way it was just laying about, more likely a member of the US SF was killed by the Taliban and they now have his weapon and dog he was handling.

So no, not really funny at all.

wonder if it was supposed to get lost, along with its camera/gps jacket and end up getting kidnapped by a Taliban commander :D

it was dognapped in December and sightings are only a few weeks old so could still be alive - just for showing off to people "look what we got"

Very much hope you're right.

Have very mixed views on this, but a part of me would say - if the dog is alive then it needs to be freed by force. If the dog is the dead, then the remains should be buried by finding the remains and shipped back home. Never leave a man behind is meant to be the American motto. Yes I know dogs are not usually shipped back home for sanitation / "health and safety" reasons. How are humans and dogs any different in that regard? We both carry bacteria.

Why would the dog be killed? (other than Muslims think dogs are dirty creatures).

Says a lot really, no pet dogs, no bacon, no beer, no music.
Can't help but be a mentally retarded culture.

You know the Taliban imposed a ban on dog fighting when they were in control of Afghanistan? Since they've been removed the sport has returned in a BIG way.

Dogs are there to reduce risk to humans.

Only emotion would override that and send squads of humans out to recover the dog at great risk.
