Hiya.

I'm sick an tired of PPI cold calls. So when I got a "Unknown" number. Which I believe is now illegal for a cold caller to withhold their number, I listened and pressed 5 to acknowledge I have PPI.

Fast forward a few days and I get a call from 0161 9058550
Right Loan 4 U Address: Block 5 Dane Road Crossford Court, Sale, Cheshire M33 7BZ North-West England

He said I believe you pressed 5 for your PPI claim.

I then said yes but only because you called from an unknown number and that you have to pay about £7 for the lead. I dont have PPI but now this call has cost you more than me now. At which point he hung up.

I reckon if everyone does this they'll soon B****r off

Nice idea, but I fear it will backfire. Lead companies now have a confirmed number and it will be sold on Ad infinitum.

I never answer the phone to any unrecognized number unless it's a local area code. I've had a handful of cold calls in my life.

Easy enough to deal with. I do this too, then block each number as they call me. Haven't had any for a few months now though =P

Its my business phone so I have to answer all calls.

I will say the same thing to ALL follow up calls. When the leads that they pay for lead them nowhere and just cost them money maybe I'll get my number blacklisted.

I get these calls a lot. But at least now I'm getting some payback

I very rarely get PPI calls from unknown numbers so I block them on my iPhone. Have seen a dramatic reduction in calls, meaning it must have been the same numbers.

When I'm in charge of the country, PPI cold callers and other ambulance chaser types will be dragged out into the street and shot.

So, who will vote for me?

Hello, Hello? I no understand? Hello? Es eet me you wan? Hello?... CLICK

I used to enjoy abusing them, but I got called a Neanderthal by someone on here... :(

I used to love getting these calls when stuck in traffic jams (on Bluetooth before "childkiller!" :P) String them on for ages, and then "well thanks for the chat, but traffic's moving again, so I best be off!" *click*

Here's one guys: our works number is starting to get PPI cold calls. I asked my manager if I could submit our extensions to TPS, but she said that we're not allowed to as it's a hospital, and it's the execs/directors that get the last say :( I mean c'mon, it creates extra work having to pick up the phone when I'm in the middle of doing a report or something.

Just do it, they'll never know but be warned it doesn't always make a massive difference.

It's a good idea for a phone you have to answer every time. If enough people make it unprofitable, businesses will stop doing it.

I would consider it perfectly reasonable to reply by finding the people in control of the company and subjecting them to a sustained campaign of sleep deprivation by waking them up at home every night. They make a living by intruding on people at home with total disregard for what their targets are doing (e.g. sleeping). I can understand someone who works for them when their only other choices are even worse, but it's a bad thing to be doing. I'll just hang up on them rather than abusing them, but since their entire job is to be extremely rude and manipulative it's understandable when their targets abuse them.

For a phone you don't have to answer, get one with a proper privacy mode. Every call I recieve goes silently to answerphone unless it's from a number I have entered as being one I want to receive calls from. Colds calls are now just an irrelevant entry in my call log rather than a day-blighting nuisance (I work shifts).
