I'm struggling to find another GTX670 4GB to SLI my setup as it's EOL and not much luck finding a second hand one at the moment. What would my options for a single card setup that could match 670 in SLI be to run games at high/ultra settings for 1440p@120hz?

Wouldn't be looking to spend more than £400 or so.

Maybe a AMD R9 290X 4GB of ram but don't know if it has enough performance[horse power] to run smoothly at 1440p most people use two GPU's.

Read some reviews to find out how it does at 1440p

Again youd have to dig up the benchmarks for 1440p, Id guess they should perform ok, but probably want to be SLI for awesome FPS.

I didn't think you could overclock your monitor with AMD GPUs?
This may have changed though?

Both the 780 and 290 can give approx 670 SLI performance.

You can but i think Nvidia cards can overclock further via drivers through the monitor. Max my monitor can do is 66hz with AMD drivers.

with a single GTX780 or AMD 290 you would achieve very good results assuming you reduce AA (since u have huge resolution jagged ends are quite smoothed on their own, so max 2x AA is fine) and you overclock the card at least as much as it can take on stock voltage.

Thanks for all the advise guys, seems if I can't find another GTX670 I might have to sell this one and go for a 780GTX.

I use MSI R280x's in crossfire and can overclock my monitor to 120hz with no problems. You do have to modify the driver and setup custom refresh rates but it works fine.
