Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 12th February 2014]

Fan ******* tastic performance, bricking it before hand, but damn what a game. Special mention to Sterling, Flanagan and Coutinho (****ed all over that coke taking bell Wilshire).

Roll on Fulham

but Arsenal desperately need a better striker, a MUCH better striker.

Think the whole damned world and his dog knows that we are desperate for a decent striker. Giroud is just not working out, never has worked out imho...he doesnt carry or offer us a genuine threat.

Ahh well bring on Utd on Wed, should be a corker but can see us dropping more points as well...meaning the way to the PL title is now well and truly open for City or Chelsea.

I expected Liverpool to win but that was a mauling, could have been 10+ goals easily and the penalty they gifted Arsenal was silly.

Arsenal are struggling against the big teams, Chelsea have managed to nullify them twice and they didn't create a lot today either. Arsenal looked better when Rosicky, Podolsko & Gibbs came on but how much of that was down to Liverpool in cruise mode?

No silver lining either. I bought Terry solely in for this game, but he's crocked.

Noooooo! The guy I'm up against in the fantasy football cup has Terry - with him out, his first substitue will come into the team. And who is that substitute? Martin ****ing Skrtel

Despite thinking he was a liability earlier in the season there's no doubt Skrtel's a very good player at the top of his game. In fact he's so good I fully expect Chelsea to bid around £50 million for him in the summer considering he's scored as many as Torres this season.

That was a lot worse than the 8-2 from Utd, that team had Djourou(abysmal, but being highly praised while things weren't going wrong for a while before that), Jenks in one of his first games was it, Traore, Coquelin, Ramsey(when he was still ****), with Lansbury, Chamakh and ox coming off the bench with Ozyakup, Sunu and Miquel the other subs.

That was as much Wenger's fault for getting us into a position that we had so many injuries and not good enough players, but it was a severely weakened team. This was a first team defence, and pretty much first team upfront and midfield. Shockingly poor and almost every reason we were poor was down to Wenger.

Set pieces, utterly woeful, he's had 10 years to work on being effective at set pieces yet the team is clueless defensively and offensively. Defensive organisation/effective full backs, nope, woeful truly woeful.

Positive changes to improve things before the game is over, again useless. Ozil was diabolic in the first half, as was Giroud, Ozil for Rosicky and probably Bendtner for Giroud after 4-0 at worst. But even before then at 2-0, we needed to compress the defence, pull everyone back, keep it 2-0 for a while try and get some control. Pull the defence deeper, pull the fullbacks in line with the back four and get them closer, have Arteta come deeper and try to gain a foothold. Instead we got even worse and gave them chance after chance after chance.

He finally made changes not even at half time, but 15 mins later after conceding again.

Ozil had been totally useless in similar games this season, Rosicky would likely have been the best choice to start instead of him in a game like this playing Rosicky/Wilshere/Arteta. Ozil should never have started but MAYBE come on with 15-20 mins to go if we needed a goal or some creative spark.

But everything about this game was predictable, half decent managers should really be able to read ARsenal like a book and come up with tactics to destroy them.. like, ignore Giroud, he's a joke, put anyone within 5 yards of Ozil and he'll fold, run at Mert, he's freaking pathetically slow, use the wings... there won't be fullbacks to oppose you if we pass it forwards quickly.

embarrassing image

The worst part is, 52 of 92 clubs have won a cup. 150mil in wages, top 4, one final and we got beaten by a awful team because Wenger got it tactically wrong(amongst many other poor decisions near it, like getting Cesc injured for no reason).

I think almost any manager with a club this size would have a better squad and have won a couple of trophies in that time. Being a 100mil + a season wage spender doesn't mean we SHOULD win trophies but it undeniably gives you a massively better chance and our absolute lack competitiveness in most competitions is a joke. CL is pretty much a joke till the knock out stages, we've been embarrassed year after year, only with a few Arsenal fans pretending winning a few games when the other team has given up thinking otherwise.

FA/CC cups, embarrassing showing, quite a few thrashings in both competitions, one final and got beat by a depressingly awful team.

Wenger is so god awful and has been god awful for so long it's a joke.

There is no other club on earth that wouldn't have fired Wenger at least 4 years ago. Should be added to that image that aside from 230mil on players, we've probably spent something very close to 1 billion in wages. We've been over 100mil by some margin for a few years, but were probably only on 75-80mil the year after the last league win so, I think it's significantly over 800mil, probably over 900mil, could be a bit higher.

In his defence Arsenal were never really spending and some times making profits on players sold and brought in. Instead of fixing the defence he spend £42.5 million on Ozil who wasn't even needed.

I said in the Summer Arsenal's defence would be their own downfall and i got all the Arsenal fans fapping over Kosc and Mert telling me the defence is fine and they are top centre backs.

Wenger is tactically inept though, he plays one way every game then during the match today just watched as it all went belly up on him instead of making some changes to the system to not concede more.
