Vodafone 4G?

Hi all

Just wondering what vodafone 4g speeds are like? Will be moving to London where there is coverage in the near future and am interested to see what people are getting!

Their retentions deals are absolutely insane, I wanted to get off the network but literally cannot argue with what I've been offered!

I was offered practically nothing to stay :S even the upgrade "offers" aren't really offers infact get better deals as a new customer lol. Ended up just renewing for a really cheap contract and freeing up the extra money to spend elsewhere.

Is there actually any live Vodafone 4G? last time I looked it was just 4G "ready" plans.

Offered the following as an early upgrade

Unlimited/Unlimited/4GB 4G
£31 a month
£17 discount
£24 credit onto my account
Making £12 a month

Plus free spotify premium worth £5 a month (£10 after I graduate) which I already pay so is a valid saving for me.

Don't think anything can really come close!

There's Vodafone 4G in London I believe?
 
Thats a nice deal, I dropped mine down to £9/m but IIRC 300 minutes, 500 texts, 250MB (from 900 minutes/unlimited/1GB @ £21/m) but with an extra 3 months "unlimited" data on top of the 3 months unlimited data that came with the plan - the best they would have done for me renewing at the old price was 3 months "unlimited" and an extra 1GB a month at £21/m :|
 
Vodafone offered me bugger all when I came to renew, even when outbound retentions called they couldn't do me any deals on 4G. You must spend a lot with them :p either that or my renewal was badly timed.
 
My previous contract was £57 discounted down to £39 a month, and I often had some 08xx costs on top or the like.
 
I don't understand 4G plans that don't have unlimited data. What's the actual point?
 
Vodafone 4G has been pretty good for me. I upgraded the last 6 months of my contract to 4G, currently get 8GB per month.

It was a lifesaver over Xmas while I was in Glasgow as I was tethering to my laptop watching football on Sky Go over 4G - it was brilliant. I suspect helped by the fact that hardly anyone was using the 4G service. Not sure how good it will be as capacity gets used up though?

I'm moving to Three in April when contract ends though. Managed to use up my 8GB allowance with the speed of 4G so clearly unlimited is the way to go, as Murf says. The extra 4GB bonus is also finished so Vodafone deals for lots of data are more expensive than they were up until January when the bonus ended.

Where I work (near the London Eye), I have to say that the 4G speeds using my HTC One are not that brilliant (10MB up 6MB down). I know you're asking about London, but venturing into Kent (Gravesend), speedtest has shown speeds of 56MB up and 25MB down. In my hometown, I get less than 5MB down and 3MB up with very patchy 4G coverage.
 
Ive had Voda 4G since it was first launched in London late last year, cant say ive been disappointed. Web browsing is fast and watching a few youtube vids or streaming sites, everything loads up nice and quick.
 
Indoor with 2 bars I easily pull 20mb down, outside and good indoor I get 40mb+. It pretty amazing, I hardly ever see h+ in London for the last 4 months.

4G is fairly uncrowded in central London right now and conveniently it's also the area with the highest 4G density (because of all the business contracts) so you'll likely have a good time with it or for that fact, any network rollout there. 4G coverage can be seen here but take 20% off the range to give a bit more real life experience. www.vodafone.co.uk/coverage . I get near max theoretical at Voda HQ in Newbury, you should be able to get fairly close in London too considering how much they spent there on masts compared to every other city :P
