xfire msi 290 oc with 8350

Unless I'm being very, very silly.
We've had two AMD FX83 owners with single R9 290X's give examples of their CPU bottleneck, but we're derping around instead :p

Even in BF4 MP you'd have a bottleneck with R9 290's in Crossfire (Although that's all now being blamed on directX as LTMatt bottlenecks with his i7 26XX)

Its is also a Mantle enabled game, which would make the FX8350 perform better than it did in the game a month ago anyway for both single and dual card setups. The FX8350 is close to stock Core i5 4670K level performance in BF4 MP conquest maps with 50+ players according to Sweclockers and that is without Mantle(using an R9 290X).

OTH,it could be some other game, which is more single core limited or even a game where the setup should be perfectly fine.

Until the OP actually says what games they are playing, there is no point suggesting another R9 290X let alone a platform change.

For all instance he could be having issues with LoL for all we know(I know that is ludicrous and probably unlikely),but again it might as well be,since he has not said what he is trying to get the performance increase in.

You have wasted your money imo, because you're running R9 290X's and LTMatt in games will get better FPS than you with a lesser GPU set up.

So because someone with a diffrent cpu gets a few more fps that means ive wasted money, i sell my 7990 do i get one card which is a downgrade or do i get 2 thats qucker than the card i had makes sense to me and not a waste of money.

Because you're running a higher GPU set up (R9 290X Crossfire V.S R9 290 Crossfire), you'd have an extra 200 quid had you got an R9 290 Crossfire as you would notice like literally nothing, but you'd still be getting less performance in the majority of titles, but at least you wouldn't have spent an extra 200 quid.

How is a higher end set up performing less than the lower end set up NOT wasted money? As you'd notice no gain/loss if you'd went for R9 290's because you're bottlenecked.

That's the factual definition of wasted money.

Did you read my post or just accidentally clicked quote?

Genuine question

That's the definition of wasted money to me, and you're ignorant by your responses of "I'm happy".

OP's question will it bottleneck, and yes it will, unless you play a very select number of games, hence why we've had two AMD FX83 owners with single R9 290X's give us their bottleneck examples.

My name keeps popping up in this thread too often for my liking. :p

Even i get bottlenecked at 5ghz with my i7 in BF4. Not so much because of the cpu, or the game, more because of DX11.1. BF4 also loves cores and threads. I would even get a benefit from moving to a 6 core cpu. Its why i can't wait for Mantle to take the API out of the equation, in bf4 at least.

Sorry, but ignorance winds me up.
And yeah, I've alluded to the API being the bottleneck.

Even still, you're likely to have the better performing set up, not only are you running a lower GPU set up, you're CPU/Motherboard is older too :p

There's a reason AMD GPU's aren't reviewed with an AMD CPU set up.

I'll run a stock Firestrike benchmark in the morning. I'll score about 20K on graphics score at stock, maybe just over that. Possibly worth considering im on pci-e 2.0 and my 290 cards are only running at x8 x8.

There isn't much point mate, FS you're heavily GPU bound. In game actual benchmarks would be nice, but would require the help of an 8350 owner with XF290s to compare.

You should in pretty much all cases outperform a 290X setup with an 8350 compared to your inferior cards and an aging 2700k.

the games i am playing are ...
war thunder
battlefield 4 / i have tried mantle driver and it increases my fps and performance
thief when its out
titanfall when its out
company of heroes 2
cs go
arma 3 + altis life/breaking point
loudout
diablo 3 and expansion when its out

Why'd you want to improve your performance :p?
I just run a 4770K at 4.4GHZ (Tbh, I got it because I had money to burn, I see no difference over my 4670K in what I do)

With an R9 290 (1075MHZ - 75mv ;);) Cracking core, and I can't imagine any game I'd want more performance in to be honest, and I game at 120HZ.

I mean I bash Fifa 14 out at anywhere from 400-550 FPS.

COH 2 = Intel better.
Arma 3 = I'm going to go with Intel, but cue someone posting an AMD close benchmark, matched by one with it not close with the Intel winning/Ditto etc :p
Thief = Mantle, no difference.
Titan fall = Unknown
Diablo = Haven't the foggiest, can't see either struggling?
CS Go = Dunno, can't see it being very different.
Loudout = What?
War Thunder = You're making these up?
