Hiya Fellas :)

Currently running a Sony STR-DB940with Sony pascal sa-ve705 5.1 Surround Sound speakers, Got them years ago when they first come out and have LOVED the combo and still do ... Sound is perfect for my needs ...I can use the amp and speakers elsewhere in the house ... But i would like a new setup with better connectivity over a network

I'm in the market for a semi decent AV amp but the wide range of choices are a bit overwhelming. wifi bluetooth spotify ... Extra layout for adaptors ?

Let's say my budget is £1000 ... I want a nice amp and nice speaker & Sub set up.... 7.2 would be nice ...But 7.1 will do just fine (second sub would be a future buy)

It's all about networking for me at the moment ... I want to link the amp to my PC to play music from my drives.

I have been reading up on a few amps ... The pro's and con's ... It all looks a lot cheaper than it was ( it's a good thing ) and the AV amps have massive amounts of features ( Also A good thing )

Been looking at the Yamaha RX-V675 , RX-V673 ( Both need additional wifi and bluetooth adaptors ? ) I don't have my router near my tv/amp so i kind of need wireless connection

Also been looking at the Sony STRDN1040 and the Yamaha RXS600 .

I guess i just need a bit of guidance and input from people in the know :)

Over to you and thanks in advance :)

Firstly I would ditch the idea of 7.1. Very little content out there and unless you have a huge room it's pretty much pointless IMO.

Still some bargains to be had at the moment. The rather super online av retailer has a few worth you looking at.

Yamaha RXV1073 half price at £499
Q accoustics Q7000 5.1 at £399 again half price as long as you don't mind them in white.

New, the above combo a bargain.

Hiya kidloco :)

Thanks for your time :)

WOW ... both of them i LIKE ... The rear of that RXV1073 looks like i think an amp should look ... Others i have seen look a bit noddy and flimzy

I had been looking at the QA Q7000 but a bit out of my price range ... But at half price I can't go wrong !

Thanks for the heads up .... I will have a good look at the RXV1073 against other stuff i have been looking at .... But at this point it looks head and shoulders above the ones i have been looking at :)

For that price i don't even mind having to shell out for the adapters lol

Book an appointment at richer sounds, don't know how close your nearest is, and test a few different options, including Sony.

As you have a Sony now and you already have the pascal speakers and are happy with the sound, up your budget for your receiver and stick with the speakers you have for now. Richer sounds will let you take them in store to test with amps, they may even allow you to test in your own home?!?

Q acoustics have a great reputation for budget home theatre so would be worth trying them too with alternative amps, like the Yamaha, although, Yamaha apparently have a distinctive 'bright' sound which may not be to your liking.

No problem. That amp really is a no brainer at that price. Only 10 of them left though so I would snap one up quick. They also have the MARANTZ SR6008 which is a very nice amp for same price. Ive had quite a few Yamaha amps and they all handled movie sound fantastically. Its only for 2 channel music I found them wanting a bit, which is why I went with Arcam.

Hya Wez :).... Thanks for your advice Brother :)

I have to admit .... I do love the Sony Pascal speakers and the sa-ve705 Sub .... The only reason for this upgrade is to drag myself into line with all the new networking options for AV Amps lol

I would keep the amp and speaker set up .... I would just move it to my office and hook it up to my PC and use it for gaming sound :)

So i thought ... New Amp New Speakers for the lounge and be done with it :)
Been looking around a fair bit and im narrowing down options, I take on what you said about the Yamaha amps being " Bright " in sound ... Im getting on a bit and an oldschool DJ ... So my ears might appreciate a bit of bright lol

I will defo go and have a chat with RS ...I have store not to far away ... I have nothing to lose and all to gain :)

Thanks for your help man :)

I wouldnt worry too much about rushing for that Yamaha amp. Superfi have had them on offer since at least December at that price.

Some good advice given already. Like said. You should just try a few out at Richer Sounds to give you a good idea of what you like.

As for Speakers. I sing the praises of Dali Zensors since I bought them in December. Good setup! :)
