phones blocked.

Most networks don't block the phone for non-payment of a contract.

I doubt that will happen to be honest, if it was that easy, there wouldn't really be any point in blocking it in the first place.

I had this exact problem, rang up the phone company, didn't even give any information other than where I'd brought it, and they unlocked it their on the spot!

Admittedly, makes the blocking thing pointless but worked for me
