Pokemon X and Y - 3DS - Oct 2013

Is Pokebank free or at least a trail period?

I keep seeing a promotion saying you get a free Celebi

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/fr...emon-x-and-y-with-bank-download/1100-6416785/

**Just checked and it looks like the first month is free?**

*Anyone who downloads the title before January 31, 2014 will receive a 30-day trial of the service for free.* - However that's impossible!

The download is always free, you then have to buy a license to use it. Currently a 30 day trial license is available for free.
You can then use it, and get a free celebi yes :) I can't remember which nature mine has, but it has perfect IVs in DEF, SPA, SPD so quite happy.

Are all legendaries now guaranteed a certain amount of perfect IVs? Because my Yvettal has 3 pefect too

It's a min of 3 max iv. Some people get 4 or more:/ mine has perfect attack, def and spA. 27 in hp and special defence and 22 in speed..

joeboi you don't need to enter a credit card.

I am on the final gym, I guess the elite four Pokemon League is the next stop towards completing the story line.

I have been reading lots, including on this thread as I want to create a competitive team and put some time into breeding etc. It's all exceptionally complicated sounding to me so I have decided to finish the story before getting too involved with anything else. I think that would be the best way so I am not trying to do too much at once.

Going to get me that free Celebi though!!

Breeding is easier once you complete the game. Breeding is made 50x easier if you can trade in one or two of the parents you need that already. One with the right nature, and egg moves and of course a spattering of the right IV s if you really want 'competitive' pokemon.

Once you have the above bank on 30 mins to an hour of breeding and hatching for each poke mon you want to hatch.

Then we'll get on to hpw to EV train them.

You are a very helpful chap. Thank you very much. I have been reading all your help and advice to James over past few pages and it's super useful but will become more relevant and make sense once I am actually breeding etc as you say. So yeah, thanks for being so helpful, look forward to annoying you! :p

I have a lot of knowledge on pokemons to share. Let me know what you want to breed and im sure I can help.

Imo the best overall 'what is x' or 'what does move Y' do is bulbapedia. You will see at a glance what each pokemons best stats are, how to evolve them, what level they learn moves etc and importantly what each pokemon is weak against or resistant to.

I went right up to black and white not really understanding any of it. Of course you can get through the game without this knowledge through brute force. But if you play online or battle maison etc it's better that you know.

k guys today im giving away for a heart scale or pp up item:

Shiny pent flawless careful Sawk
Shiny pent flawless modest Deino with earth power
Shiny pent flawless timid nidoran male with hustle
shiny adamant Axew with night slash
Shiny timid quad flawless hp grass charmander with Dragon pulse egg move

OK I have beat the elite four and the league champ now. So time to breed my team! I went to try and catch some Eevee's and as soon as I got to route 10, a god damn Moltress appeared but it insta-fled on me! Am I right in thinking I can go to the cave (forget its name) in the middle of the water to catch it now?

I have caught myself 6 Ditto's. I have so far bred that with an Eevee in the hope I'd get a female Eevee from the egg as I spent 45 mins and caught 5 male Eevee which was annoying. so I have that egg waiting on it hatching.

I also bred with a Charmander that has some good moves that I got on random Wonder Trade so have that egg as well which was just a practice really.

My plan is to get a decent male and female Eevee and breed a really good kid which I'll do super training with and evolve it into a powerful Jolteon.

Also Magma armor speeds up egg hatching, so as per the above I hope to catch that Moltress and keep that in my party to speed that up.

I finally got around to catching moltres the other night.

You're right that it appears in the sea spirits den, but you need to see it in the wild 9 times not one.
Also it dosen't have magma armour/flame body, it has pressure - flame body is its dream world ability. Talonflame is what I use for that since it has fly too, which allows me to check IVs quicker

Have fun breeding!

Bloody hell, I won't be catching it any time soon then!!

Good shout on Talonflame, I have a ncie JPN fletchling I guess I could work on that and evolve him. Although my Farfetch'd is what I use for Fly/False Swipe, hmmmm. There is so much to this game!

Ahame I've bred some shiny ha hypervoice eevee in modest and bold but they are hp electric:/ not ideal for jolteon.

OK, dumb that down a bit for me dude :p

Shiny, I understand.

HA?

Hypervoice I guess being a move.

Modest and bold natures, got it.

HP Electric but not ideal for Jolteon? But he is electric type? I am being dumb aren't I?

Jolteon is just who I'd pick of them all, but any of the Eevee evolutions would have place on my team and I'd base my other types around that. I'm still working out what I want as I don't even know all what types to include, Work in progress

Yep shiny shiny! HA stands for Hidden Ability I.e dreamworld ability in this case Anticipation which becomes Pixilated on the evolution Sylveon.

Hypervoice is a pokemon bw/2 tutor move so no eevee can learn it in XY unless it was imported from bw already knowing it.

Hidden power electric is the least optimal for a electric pokemon because it can already learn more powerful electric moves. Hp electric is useful if you are a water based pokemon as when a Vaporeon tries to fight another water type it won't do any damage with its normal moves. So getting the opposite type hidden power can be useful.

Like my hp fire venusaur means it can do real damage to other grass types who would otherwise resist it's main attacks of grass and poison.

Similarly I have hp grass charmander so it can better attack water pokemon who resist fire. Although hp grass charmander is redundant with char y item which gives you Drought so you can run Solar Beam which is double the base power of hp grass and doesn't need a turn to power up in sunlight (which you get from drought).

aha, yes makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clearing up.

Apparently Pixelate makes normal moves into fairy type plus a 30% boost.

Hypervoice hits more than one foe and goes through protect, and will get another 50% boost from being Fairy type move used by a fairy type pokemon making it positively a dragon killer or anything that doesn't resist fairy moves.

Hmmm, quite liking the sound of Sylveon right now going by the above and a quick look on Bulbapedia. Not sure if many people include a dragon type for battling online but it'll certainly wreck them.
