Had about enough of the 7990, can't get drivers to install without a warning, cleaned drivers in safe mode, cleaned registry, and still getting poor performance in bf4. Re installed windows 8.1, don't know what else to do, except change to green, and pobably go for deal for a 780 ti windforce off overclockers. I just want to switch the pc on, play bf4 with solid 60fps at 1080p. Is a 780 ti to a good card for 1080p, or should I wait for a better driver for the 7990?

LtMatt posted a guide on flashing the BIOS to remove throttling and poor performance, if you have re-installed windows then as Brad asks above what drivers have you used?

13.12 and 14.1, both have worked, on windows 7, could it be windows 8.1? They both are installing with a warning, and sometimes installing with a black screen. There seems to be a conflict somwhere but I've tried everything, I think.

Reference poor BF4 performance. Have you d/l MSI Afterburner for example and disabled ULUPS?

I had what I thought were driver problems but it turned out to be the newer drivers exposing a poor overclock. Are you running completely stock?

At the moment I am running Win 7 with the below spec and BF4 is running on Ultra 2xMSAA lovely and smooth.

What warning?

BF4 should run well on 7990 with Frame pacing on and V Sync off, but if you want V Sync you need to run a couple of tweaks.

BF4 is a funny beast, but here's what to do to get it smoooooth as butter with V Sync on

In Cat Control centre create a BF4 profile and turn off Frame Pacing.

Create a User CFG file in the BF4 folder with the command: gametime.maxvariablefps

Look into disabling CPU Core parking also which is a good tweak for everything, you can do this easily in Windows 8.1 by setting your PC's power mode in power options to high performance.

Before you give up, try this.

The Amber warning is pre installed drivers! I have Msi installed with upls disabled, I have Cpu cores UN parked, and my frames are 30 to 55 up and down. I used to get a constant 60, but what has changed I just can't figure out. I'm also getting a black screen when I attempt to install catalyst, but eventually after several attempt I can get on to stick., this has only started recently.

The 7990 will get a good price on the second hand market due to the mining.
If you only want to game and want little to no hassle get an nvidia card!!
/gets coat!!
I had issues with 5850, friend is having issues with his 280x gaming and is going back to a 670.

Just for reference im running 2560x1600 with all goodness in BF4 and getting 80++ fps. So the 7990 is a beast if paired with a good CPU and SSD for the game.

I'm hopping it's windows driver certification for amd as stated by ltmatt.
I'm using a3770 k with a saber tooth mb and agility ssd so I would think they should be ok? Looking st second hand priced I should be able to swap for a ti.
