has to be 5 seats so the coupe is out of the question.
there is some E46 around for that price.

never owned a BMW so i am going in blind at the moment.

thanks in advance

Every E46 bar the M3 is below that price if you hunt around, what are your actual requirements?

Why bother? It will just be an approaching life expired pile of hassle.

What is it that appeals to you about a 2 grand BMW?

haha no idea really i just think they look quite good with the m sport wheels.

You wont be getting a sport worth its salt for this money, i was thinking perhaps a 318i SE saloon.

I currently own a 2003 mazda 323 2.0 sport with full electrics and full leather.
The car is superb and so so reliable but it just looks a bit ancient now. :(

Ive never found the 3 series to be all that big in the back, so if you are carrying 3 adults in the back, i'd look elsewhere.

This, because the rear seats are near enough between the rear wheels there are fairly large and protruding bolsters into the rear seat space, narrowing it quite a lot.

Comfortable for 2 adults, not for 3.

Mondeo would be a much better choice, especially if your primary requirement is to transport 5 adults in relative comfort.

I bought a 325ti Compact last year for £1650. Needed a service and new tyres (and a new battery) but other than that it's fine. Sailed it's MOT. Garage that serviced it remarked how well it had been looked after. Certainly not a pile of hassle. At least not so far.

Nobody wants compacts though, so they're cheap. Yours was even cheaper than most 325ti's as well.

Plus if the coupe's no use for the OP then a compact definitely won't be.

I'm sure you could find a reasonable 318i or maybe 320i for £2k, but you'd still need to spend money looking after it for little to no real driving pleasure (at least the 320 would be a 6 I guess).
