I dont really know how to do it properly - i can play his games he can play mine but only when logged into each others accounts.
it's working on ours, fully tested this weekend.
first of all deactivate all accounts on both PS4's and then wipe them so your starting from a clean slate.
go to your mates PS4 and make your account the main account. then activate his console as your primary PS4. then you can make his account the second account and when it asks you if you want to make this the primary ps4 for his account select no. set his account to auto login from the system menu. after doing this his account will boot up straight away every time he longs into console even though yours is the main account on his console.
now you want to put a lock on your account on his ps4 (you can put pin on it basically from the settings whilst logged into your account) that means he cannot access your account/store, etc.
now his console should be fully setup, if he wants to play a game from your account, firstly he will need to download it from your account (which he cannot access), this can be done by you on a pc/laptop, you login to your account, select the game and then select download to PS4 (this will then download the game to the primary PS4 which is his console).
basically you can now send games from your account to his console through a pc/laptop using the web store.
he can play those games on his account and use your PSN plus so long as he logs out then logs back in (he auto logs into his account automatically which messes up the license thing for games, logging out then in fixes this).
now you repeat the process on your console making sure you set his account as the main account on yours and activating your ps4 as his primary ps4, but when you put in your account as the second account you do not activate this console as the primary ps4.
basically you can only have 1 primary PS4, so if you set both as primary only the last one set is the primary and your messing it all up.
you and your mate would be better off doing it my way though which is:
other console - my account primary account and primary ps4 (locked), bro's account sub account (he does not have PSN plus or any games) he uses the primary accounts PSN plus to play online on his account as well as the primary accounts games.
your console - my account as the main account (but did not activate it as the primary ps4) i can only use my account to play online and play my games all sub accounts cannot because this is not my primary ps4.
my way only 1 of you need to buy psn plus every year, yet both can play on their own accounts online. he cannot access my account (it's locked by a pin) yet he can download any of my games (by me sending it through the web store only or by me putting my pin in and downloading it)
no point both of you paying for plus if your going to share accounts.
