So apparently it's okay to stab a child in the face if they call you Harry Potter

According to DM users of course...

Teenager jailed after stabbing a girl in the face and smashing another's head against a fence because they called him Harry Potter

And some of the top comments...

You can never judge how someone will respond to insults. Perhaps they'll think twice before taunting someone else.

How come I feel more sorry for him than them?

If the girls had left him alone this would never have happened.

I really hope this doesn't reflect what most people in the UK think. If so what the hell is going on?

Okay yes they should not have made fun of him, but my God they are just children. How many silly things do you say as a kid in jest when you're with your mates. Should everyone now walk around scared they are going to get stabbed in the face when they say something silly?

And whatever happened to not reacting with physical violence to non-physical threats? Isn't that one of the first things you are taught as a child?

Please tell me the UK hasn't become this messed up :(

Do you know what else has happened prior to this? Is this the only thing they have done / said to him?

Apparently nothing other than touching his shopping bag. They had no prior contact with him and did absolutely nothing physical to his person.

Either way I'm not quite sure I can think of a situation where that level of self defense is required against 2 young girls, unless my life is in imminent danger...

So what's your point?

Needs a link to read the rest of the drivel. Did he get prosecuted?

It says at the very top of my post he was jailed. My thread was about how weird it is so many people are coming to his defense and classing this as bullying. As if a one time mild verbal insult is now bullying or something. I guess these people have never really been bullied, because trust me, this is not bullying.

You missed the memo that went out. Name calling, whether in real life or online is far more serious than actual violence.

Troll someone on Facebook or twitter & you can expect a prison sentence, kick someone's head in after a drunken night out and you'll get little more than a slap on the wrist.

UK certainly does not think it's okay to stab someone, as you yuourself the teen in question is in jail.

Then you presented 3 sentences of supposed DM users comments. I do not think 3 people from DM website represent "everybody".

Do you understand how ridicules your thread is?

This is exactly what I'm getting at... What is wrong with these people?

I could never see myself react with serious physical violence to a verbal insult. And anyone who does is short a few marbles in my book
