Guys help :D

I am making Heston Blummenthal`s crab lasagne, I will need 500g of white crab meat, where do i get this quantity from as the supermarkets where we live are a bit rubbish. help and advice appreciated.
For once be nice you lovely lot :D:D:D

You can buy it in most supermarkets in pouches and in tins. Obviously it's not as good as fresh, but it's a good compromise as it's much cheaper and less hassle if you aren't familiar with working on whole crab.

M&S do a nice one, 100% crabmeat, no added rubbish.

Sad state of affairs when OP had to ask to realise the fishmongers is where you go for fish.

Yes I know where to get fish but as I said its a bit limited round here, I dont drive and apart from the fishmongers I did find that has very limited opening hours there isnt a fishmongers for 15 miles, So just shuttit. :p:D and i want the very best i can get as its for a very special persons 70th birthday so i dont want to compromise on quality.

A dressed crab might have the brown and white meat mixed, check with your fishmonger.
Yes its brown and white do you think brown wont be good in a lasagne?

You rockstar :D:D:D

The brown will be fine in a lasagne.

Honestly for a lasagne, it seems a waste using a fresh crab to be mixed in with all those other flavours and sauces. Fresh crab meat would be appreciated in a salad, not in an oven baked saucy dish.

I certainly wouldn't be driving 30 miles for a fresh crab. If you do... Make sure the fishmonger prepares it for you otherwise get on youtube and learn how to prepare it. Watch for the spray back and dead mans fingers.

Ok but it just seems a bit un la cuisine like to suggest not using fresh tasty produce.
