AMD is planning to launch two new graphics cards in the product lineup which include the Radeon R9 280 and the Radeon R7 265. As you may have noticed from the title, both graphics cards would be rebrands and are expected to launch in the upcoming months as reported by VR-Zone.AMD Radeon R9 280 and R7 265

AMD Readies Radeon R9 280 ‘Tahiti Pro’ and Radeon R7 265 ‘Pitcairn Pro’
AMD has just recently launched their Radeon R7 250X graphics card which is an HD 7770 for $99 US. AMD has kept an effective pricing scheme on their entry level products with several sub-$100 and sub-$200 price range SKUs. The new Radeon R9 280 and Radeon R7 265 are meant to expand AMD’s portfolio of their latest Radeon R200 series which was announced in October 2013.
The Radeon R9 280 would feature the Tahiti Pro core which is fused with 1792 stream processors, 112 TMUs, 32 ROPs. The Tahiti Pro chip consists of 4.313 billion transistors and is based on a 28nm design which is running since the Southern Islands series. The Radeon R9 280 is coupled with a 3 GB GDDR5 memory which runs along a 384-bit interface at a clock speed of 5.0 GHz pumping out 224 GB/s bandwidth. The exact core clock for the card are not known but the card will feature a maximum TDP of 200W. We expect the card to be priced around $249.99 US at launch.

The Radeon R7 265 on the other hand is not part of the Radeon R7 260 series since its based on the Pitcairn Pro while the R7 260 series cards feature the Bonaire core with TrueAudio and DirectX 11.2 support. The Radeon R7 265 will feature the Pitcairn core with 1024 stream processors, 64 TMUs, 32 ROPs and 2.8 billion transistors on the chip itself. The Radeon R7 265 would be coupled with 2 GB GDDR5 memory running along a 256-bit interface at a clock speed of 4.8 GHz (effective rate) pumping out a bandwidth of 153.6 GB/s. The R7 265 will have a max TDP of 130W and would be priced at $159 – $149 US.
VR-Zone also has news regarding the Dual-Chip Hawaii based graphics card which according to their sources has entered boot stage and we may see it in June 2014, just around Computex 2014. NVIDIA also has their own Dual-Chip GeForce GTX 790 graphics card planned for launch around the same time which will feature GK110 cores.

Something wrong with the 280, as it is listed as 2GB on a 384 bit bus, which would be either 1.5GB/3GB/4.5GB....

Specs look all kinds of messed up, 2gb @ 5ghz on a 384bit bus. I did wonder how long it would take for the 7950 to be remoulded into the r9 line up though.

Why didn't they do this earlier? 7950 was too good to forget about.

I agree. It has always been a gem and with the 7950 becoming EOL, there was nothing that fitted the same price/performance. Sure the 280X is a nice card but for the middle of the road guys, there is nothing IMO that suffices that price bracket.

Just to add, that isn't a typo about the memory and it will have 2GB of mixed RAM. Well that is if the person who replied to me is correct of course. nVidia did the same with the 660Ti.

There is a typo in how many Transistors it has, the 280 and 280X are both the same Tahiti chip yet one is down as having one more than the other.

I don't think AMD do memory splicing. wccftech said exactly the same thing about the Hawaii GPU's, obviously they were completely wrong.

Yer, I wouldn't say you was wrong, as I don't know and the person who responded is probably going on what nVidia did and Wccftech are not renowned for always being accurate but time will tell.

If I said that, I would have a barrage of hate posts :D

Its not boring :p the 7950 was a fantastic GPU for its money, clocked 150Mhz lower than the 7970 it looked much slower on paper, but was actually very near as fast in reality.

It looks like they are doing the same again. clocked at 850Mhz it will probably be around the ~£200 mark.

It will sell like comic books at a nerds convention.

I was right, i said 4GB and a 512Bit Bus. ;) i also said 64Rop's, the only thing i didn't guess was 8 Ace units. but i doubt anyone could have predicted that.
