Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 12th February 2014]

What did he do?

Cech shouted at him for being out of position and letting WBA have a shot (or something like that), and he reacted very angrily, got in Cech's face, squared up to him a bit. Then Mourinho shouted something to him and he had another fit, screaming angrily in Mourinho's general direction. He looked like he was about to murder someone. Was pretty weird.

Given the goals Skyrtel scored against Arsenal United's one dimensional crossing tactics might work, 15-0 United. :p

This isn't something that can be downplayed. Moyes is stupid enough to stick with only crossing, and Wenger has proven, both by saying it and simply by watching them, that they won't adapt to their opposition. Weak out of position fullbacks, a slow as hell CB and a defence that doesn't work well with crosses in behind the defence. Unlike Fulham we aren't going to sit back and fend them off sensibly.

Of course, our midfield should eat Utd's alive, but on the break they'll bomb up the wings with Sagna MIA, and we'll see what happens.

I was just reading a post on redcafe. I thought it was hilarious.
I've also bolded the line I thought was particularly funny.
I thought I'd share it here.

David wakes up early today after a restless night. For breakfast he has a warm croissant followed by a buttered hot cross bun, both alongside his typical glass of orange juice and the morning crossword. He doesn't read the rest of the paper, fearful in the knowledge that he remains in the media's cross-hairs. That said, he can't resist a look at the weekend's lacrosse and motocross results.

He walks to work these days - crossroad by car are too unpredictable for his liking. As he ambles past a tennis match in the park he smiles wryly to a wonderful cross-court backhand. Must be brave of them to play in such a crosswind he reasons.

Arriving at Carrington he cross-checks Phil Neville's match stats with pro-zone and yes, too many short passes once again. The players need to learn.

Wayne is the first under cross-examination, questioned under suspicion of playing a through-ball. Frustrated, he criticises the tactics. The line has been crossed and David flies into a fit of rage. Several minutes later Wayne awakes on the floor, dazed, bruised and cross-eyed.

The players need to learn - what if a newcomer like Juan follows Wayne's bad example? David will cross that bridge when he comes to it. Either way, dissent across the squad cannot continue - this is not a democracy and double-crossing will not be tolerated, regardless of how good David thinks it sounds.

But David is familiar with the criss-crossing path to glory, and will tread patiently. The players will soon know his team-talk by heart... 1 Corinthians 1:18... For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

The players will learn and we will be saved. He crosses his fingers.

Oh and as for tonight's game. I am hoping that Man Utd lose badly, perhaps by 6 goals or similar. Hopefully then, we might stand a chance of getting Moyes out this Summer.
After struggling against Fulham (who are woeful), my patience has ran out.
I don't like to see people get sacked, but Moyes is out of his depth. He has no plan B or C. Just 1 plan.

And I'm not sure if some of you know but a Fulham defender likened our style of play to a Conference side. Apparently the last time he saw a team play like that against him, was when he played in the Conference.

I suspect, and it's looking likely, if Moyes doesn't qualify for the Champions League then they'll use some sort of contract performance clause to get rid. I have no doubt that CL qualification and the money it brings is something the Glaziers won't be without for more than one season.

Stop trying to pigeon it! :p

We're in for a rough ride here I think, bereft of confidence against a team that's just taken a hammering :/

So called United fans wanting to lose against Arsenal for whatever reason is a disgrace, set fire to your Rooney Panini stickers and be gone with you

+10 (in regards to the last bit especially)

Moyes has had a decade of setting a smaller club up to draw in games like these, 0-0 result for me.

We need to treat every game like a CL final, If fulham have anything about them they will come at us like a ton of bricks, hopefully they are dead tired though so we can get a decent result, 3-0!

Huge game tonight. Arsenal have to save their slim title hopes and we have to get a positive result and hope for a massive turnaround to push for the top four. Arsenal do have a habit of massively bottling it against us, especially with RvP on the pitch against them.

I've only seen people say that they'd take a heavy defeat if it 100% meant Moyes would get the boot, but I doubt that would happen.

This was an interesting article, seems Moyes is feeling the heat: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/11/manchester-united-david-moyes

I really, really hate what he says though. :(

a few highlights:

It was gently pointed out that his team were 21 points worse off than at this stage last season. "Well, I was at Everton so I wasn't 21 points worse off," he replied. "I was at Everton."

"You need to have a football intelligence, a football brain, to understand first of all," he said of his tactics.

Was it time to try something different? "I disagree with that as well." Even though the results are not what they should be? "I can only give you my answer. I disagree." More staring.

What a *****.

I can't remember if it's Anichebe or James Vaughan that I hate. One of them tried to kill Dudek in a reserve game years ago.

My god I forgot all about James Vaughan, one of the long list of forwards under Moyes utterly destroyed for one reason or another :D

Anyway hoping for United win to put some pressure on Arsenal and keep it tight at the top. Can't see it though, I think 3-1 to Arsenal.

No Lukaku I'm worried where the goals are going to come from again, we should win the passing and possession though.

Oh dear - Tim Krul is a doubt for tonight.

So that's Krul, Debuchy, Colo, Tiote, Gouffran, and Remy gone from our starting XI. Should be fun.

You should listen to what they say, the no plan B line was used. They said that about Fergie and it took you 26 years to finally cotton on and get rid of the buffoon.

Oh my, the Moyes topic got locked. Was looking forward to the posts related to that topic tonight :<

Hoping Arsenal bounce back and put 5 in.
