Played the demo tonight.

For some reason I really didnt know how to work the blocking / countering. I did the initial tutorial thing but after that point I didn't manage one real time block. I kept sliding about the place each time. Don't really like the controls too much.

First time I've played a game like this since God of War 3 on ps3 and it feels a lot more clunky.

Played... I guess they are focusing on action to draw people in. I just hope they have not let the exploration and story behind :( I will wait for a review first after playing the demo.

Got this from Steam about a week ago and it looks really good. I don't usually go for hack and slash games but thought i would give this a go after getting bored of Skyrim.

Well it took about five minutes to eliminate the goblins but it's taken five days to kill the swamp troll and i still can't do it, its so frustrating. I get to jump on him about five times after pressing RT and hit the buttons when the rings converge but i get killed every time.

If anybody's got any tips i would appreciate the help. Cheers.

Loved the demo. I had already played it on the PS3 when I bought Mirror of Fate HD on the PStore, but its just stunning on PC.

I loved the first game, it had its problems certinaly, but the story and the pacing was excellent and really sucked me in emotionally. I have literally been checking up on the progress of this game daily since last autumn before it was delayed.

The only thing that has disappointed me about what I've seen so far of LoS2, is (might be a spoiler if you haven't completed the first game)
what they've done with Satan. He was perfectly portrayed in the first game, but they've turned him into the standard, ridiculously muscle bound "Gears of War" type bad guy. He originally seemed much more sophisticated and natural in the first and it really added to the European vibe of the Castlevania universe, whereas in the latest trailer, he seems much more Americanised and out of place. Hopefully its more of a temporary thing (like a power up) for the game.

To block all you need to do is hit the L2 button just before they hit you. You don't need to face them or move the direction stick, just time it right and it blocks regardless of your direction.

It's the initial opening of the game to show Gabriel at the height of his powers to give the player an idea of what he became. But yeah I also hope it focusses mainly on the story and has the same tragically epic atmosphere of the first game.

I think the same.
Combat seems easier, where are the rings to fill up to start to get magic?Did they scrap that?it'll ruin the game for me.in lord of shadow you had to think during combat!now you just switch between weapons?that's sucks!

got LOS still sat in my Steam account, do intend playing but into Darksiders at the moment.

Played this demo though and is quite a blast, looks good on the PC with everything maxed out, just when it was getting good, it was all over :(

Think its out next week, but may wait until the price drops a bit and I have finished the 1st.

I think... I think it's just the demo maxing these out. It would be STUPID to have them auto fill up. It would ruin it, you would never use your normal weapons.

In the first, I rarely used magic, only in certain situations, which. As you say, made you much more tactile in combat.

I also am not so keen on the 'environment' being the city throughout the entire game.

It's reminding me of Dragon Age Origins to Dragon Age 2 in terms of environment at the moment. I don't want to be confined to the city for the next 50 hours! But, time will tell I guess. Hopefully the town is one of MANY locations just like LoS 1 :)

The demo has maxxed out energy.

Also in the full game you can disable those QTE's (and in the demo as well apparently) if they annoy you just turn them off I guess.
