Things to do near Staffordshire

I have a week off next week, and I want to do more than stay indoors and play games. I know, that sounds absolutely crazy!

What amazing things are there to do near the Stoke area, I don't mind if it takes an hour drive or so! I would like to go on a few day outs. :)

Can you recommend a great day out? :)
 
Go horse-trekking over Cannock Chase. Great girls run the stables and Lisa is fantastic.
Try and get a 'Pub Lunch' option, especially if you're going with the other half!
 
Got a few mountain biking hire places around Cannock area.

And of course Alton Towers, dunno how busy it will be this time of year tho.
Asume all the kids will still be at school so shorter ques.

Next week is half term round here so it'll be rammed if it's open.

Ah, good to know. Don't keep up with all the staggered half terms.

If you go when all the kids are at school and not towards the end of the year due to school trips It's mostly empty.
