Hi guys I need some help I'm on a budget I was looking at the fx 6300 with the Asus m5a97 mobo but I was also looking at the fx 8320 I haven't got a mobo idea for the fx8 yet I was hoping you could steer me in the right direction as to what is the best cheapest boards for both of the cpus and also can narrow the search to mobos where I can just slip the cpus in straight away without a bios update

Thanks guys

The problem with the 83**'s is the [over]-power draw, which means they need motherboard with excellent phase power features. The 6300 doesn't so much, unless you are overclocking it.

The cheapest motherboard which i would suggest for the 83**'s is this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
Total : £89.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

It has 6+2 Phase power which is really the minimum needed to run a 8320. The non EVO version of this board doesn't have this power design.

Will the fx 8320 go straight onto that board without bios update and also if I was to go for the fx 6300 which motherboard would you advice and I could just plug the cpu in and go straight away also I have no intentions of overclocking either pcus

Thanks soo mcuh I don't want to be a pain bit could you link me a board for each of the pcus if I was to consider overclocking them or is the evo still good for the 8320 I just want to have all my options played out thanks again

I would get the EVO for either cpu personally. I had a 6300 and I should have gone for the 8320 if I did then I wouldn't have upgraded so soon to a 4670k.

I have an 8320 and M5A97 EVO R2.0, good board and CPU combo.

You can overclock but the board struggles to get it stable. Had it at 4.3, was fine for a spell but started to crash the system, stepped it back to 4.0 works well.

My mate had is FX6350 at nearly 5GHZ but was limited by the cooling and he had the Asus M5A97 EVO R1.0,so it could be you have not added enough voltage or have a poor CPU for overclocking.

That's good to know Josh thanks I think I'm going to go with that combo it seems to make the most sense as far as power is concerned I will be getting a new 750psu but for now I have a 600cx will that be ok I have a hd7850 running aswell

Think my PSU wasn't helping, 600M Corsair, kept getting Kernel Power.

It is possible to get it upto 5GHz but I don't have the required amount of knowledge to get it that far, 4Ghz is fine for me.

600 will do the job bud but I would invest in a 750W personally, I'm running a GTX 780 and loads of fans so need the extra power.

I've not had any experience of that board mate but for the stuff you want it comes in at the same price, build it yourself, it's very easy the add the CPU and RAM.
