steam mop

Anyone got a steam mop, are they really that good at cleaning kitchen floors and everything else like in the adverts, or just a gimmick.

We got a Vax last week, really cleaned up our dirty grouting well. Not tried anything else yet.

My missus loves hers, has handy interchangable heads also for cleaning upholstery etc

I always see them in the adverts being used on laminate floors but I was under the impression that they would damage the laminate by penetrating the layers and making it warp.

This true?

Been used on my laminate many times and it doesn't harm it, just don't oversaturate the floor.

I dont have a mop but I do have a handheld Bissell steam cleaner. Its...ok. While it deserves credit for being able to clean really well, its slow to use and you have to follow it around mopping up all the water it leaves behind. If you do get one try and find the biggest tank you can, they run out quick and you have to wait for them to cool down before refilling, then wait until it heats up before you can use it again.

Best on tiled surfaces, takes a while to set up and slow to use.
Does a really good cleaning job though.

we've got that, it's great for a quick clean on our kitchen tiles however it doesn't get into the corners very well so a periodic traditional scrub is needed

it broke in 20 months, we rang vax, they sent us a new one, no questions asked

We have a Shark steam mop which we use for cleaning the laminate & vinyl floors, does an ok job, but they're never that grubby anyway.

Got an x5 mop for crimbo.

So simple to use and does an excellent job on the cooker, laminate flooring, Lino, bathroom, windows etc etc etc
