Titanfall (Respawn Entertainment's new IP)

If he gets an e-mail it will be to the one linked to his origin account. From what I've heard it's going open beta in the next day or so.
 
Just had a cracking couple of games.

Once you learn how you can use surfaces to move about the maps, the game becomes so much more dynamic, also short rounds mean its a game I can play without the missus giving me jip.

nice to play a game with actual bullet reg!
 
Just played it. Truly awful : /. Plays and looks like ass. Is this what is passing for next generation these days? The graphics are horrendous compared with something like Crysis 3 or BF4.

Sorry, It just isn't my cup of tea. I don't like silly fast paced frenetic shooters. I find them tedious. This is probably right up some people street.

One thing that shocked me is just how poor the graphics are. The source engine is past it now.

Fair enough, for me it's the opposite, I don't like slow paced shooters, as they're a bit boring to me, BF is just about acceptable, but games like ARMA I can't stand.

But yeah obviously the game isn't going to be for everyone, it's paced even faster than CoD, so if you don't like shooters like CoD you wont like Titanfall. I thought when you said "Plays like ass" it was going to be something else, because for me it's far better than anything that has come out in recent years, hit reg seems to be spot on, time to kill is just about right, and movement is fluid and exciting.
 
Just tried it out.

I like pretty much all types of FPS, CoD, BF and even Counter Strike, but this was just, meh.

First of all, I have no idea what I am doing. I feel I still need to learn the mechanics of the game. Why do Titan's kill me faster than I kill them when I am always putting a lot of bullets into them :confused:

It looks a lot like a cluster **** to me.

It will probably be a bit better when/if I can get exactly what's going on, but at the moment, its too confusing.

Also, yes, it does use A LOT of VRAM. I got 3007MB of VRAM used, and I played at 1920x1080 at full settings. For some odd reason though, I get the highest readings in the menus. No idea why :confused:
 
Seems to run fine on my rusty 7870. Not running any crazy res though.

Quite fun, doubt I'll pick it up. Not keen on being in a titan, much more fun blowing the crap out of it from up high as a pilot :)

It's enjoyable, but undecided about the retail purchase. Would have preferred it to have a single player campaign included. Not sure about buying into a full price MP only release.
 
i can agree with others about it being a bit too hectic, reminds me more of the old quake days than anything else which is fine if you enjoy those twitch fps games.

Myself i normally prefer a slightly slower pace of my FPS so id prefer the battlefield type multiplayer than this.

Buy at launch? Not for me, ill wait till its been out for a while and reduces in price. Will be interesting to see what Respawns approach will be to future DLC, map packs etc as i seem to remember them charging for pretty much everything with MW.

Something different which is always nice, but based on the beta ill wait to see some reviews before i consider a purchase

Yip, would be happy paying £10~ but not £30+.
 
Had a quick go but I'm getting quite a bit of screen tear is anyone else? I have a 290x / Benqxl2411t. I don't really want to turn Vsync on.
