Police steal homeless peoples bedding and food.

And I thought building houses would "crack down on homelessness".

Ah the old, build a load of expensive houses on flood planes and then give them to people for free scheme?
Yes, works well when in excess, but in deficit doesn't help much, when there is no money to spend anywhere, and yet still we overspend...
Good as it would be to give everyone a free house, I can't afford to pay for that, I can just about afford my own, and the country can't afford to pay for it either.

It has already been stated that in places there are facilities to be used, that are not used.
This 'scheme' certainly won't help matters either, however.

Wonder if they played Beethoven to them whilst they took there bedding & food.

Disgusting, the police really do think they are above the law

What needs to happen is they need to properly fund hostels, as at present they rely on local authorities and housing benefit rules make it difficult for some to use homeless shelters or longer term accommodation.

This country needs to be judged on how well it treats it's must vulnerable, at the moment it's doing terribly due to the Tory stirred up economic class war, it's sickening!

I was more thinking along the lines of affordable homes to meet peoples needs (both private and socially rented). Not all subsidised housing schemes are placed on flood planes.

Petition doesn't claim it will solve homelessness, it's a petition to stop the Police from stealing from the homeless.

Worry not, I have clicked it and now feel all warm and fuzzy that I have done my bit! Someone needs to do one for world peace too, we could have that nailed by next Friday!

I hate how on this forum everyone is pro police and think the sun shines out there backside. Me, personally, i think a lot of them think there above the law, powerful, beyond questioning and arrogant.

Just thought I'd go off topic slightly and agree with you, the Police think they're above the law and this idiot blatantly lies about a guy apparently admitting he said he had two drinks. Clear case of abuse of power.

Wrong forum?

barely a week goes by without someone bringing up every single sided halfstory of possible police error. It won't be long before spelling errors in police reports will be a sackable offence to some people here.

Right forum, Police abusing their powers is not acceptable. Do you consider confiscating a homeless persons personal essential belongings without reasonable cause to be acceptable?

I personally think you are quite wrong.

Why? I don't know where you live but police in Birmingham are as crooked as they come. From everything to undercover abuse, false statements and pure lies.

a lot of people get unjust treatment from police and get singled out by them. Its also quite hard to discuss issues with the police as they always have to speak first and lay down the law so to speak. They do come across as very arrogant and power hungry because of that badge. The funny thing is that without the badge they wouldn't come quite so brave and abrasive.
