Negative slant is negative. So 75% do know the Earth Orbits the sun at least.

It'd be interesting to have a similar survey here and make sure it includes a wide population sample as I am not sure we'd do much better in the UK.

Whilst I believe in Evolution and don't think space ghosts have any place in modern society that is me, it is interesting that the article reads as "believe in evolution or you are a stupid American".

Meanwhile, 51 per cent of Americans knew that antibiotics don't kill viruses.

That I can believe, I often have this argument with people - such as my wife and mother-in-law - who also think going out in cold weather will magically mean you catch a cold.

Which all means nothing because only 2200 out of over 300,000,000 people were surveyed.

I know what you mean about anti biotics. My kids were both recently I'll with something caught at school and my wife insisted I take them to the doctors to get anti biotics. When I explained they wouldn't help her sisters started nagging that I Wasn't talking their illness seriously. So I took them under protest... And as expected the doctor said it was a virus and they just had to get over it.

I used to be in an EVE Online Corp with a fair few Americans and one, who lived in San Diego, said the most normal Americans lived on the coast and the further you went inland the more insane Americans got.

No idea if that's true but it was amusing when he said it.

The american public is pretty darn dumb.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much better the British are though. We'll score quite lowly on the anti-biotics and astrology questions in particular

One of my housemates takes grey market antibiotics for absolutely everything. She offered me some when she heard me sniff and I wasn't quite sure what to say other than 'No thanks'.

It is funny apart from the fact that they control the biggest nuclear arsenal. Scariest time was when George bush was president he was an idiot.

People like that make me so angry. One of the reason why bacterial resistance to anti-biotics is increasing is people in places like India and Bangladesh can buy anti-biotics without prescription, and therefore do so for every minor ailment. Is your housemate from the third world?

As long as they work hard and pay taxes I doubt their government cares, the USA has by far the highest GDP on the planet and that's all that matters right?

Numbers are a bit meaningless if they don't have the equivelants for other countries to compare. Should probably only sample adults of working age to make a fairer comparison.
