What have you done to your car today?

I still need to stick them in my teeth... but only as I fold my normal Glasses and put them in the holder, then slap my Sunnies on me mush!! :D :)

But at least I don't have to reach across my car to the Glovebox now!! :)

Picked up my replacement glove box from the PO (£25 delivered from ebay, bargain), removed the old knackerd one (kids had broken the handle and locking mechanism).

Also decided to replace the pollen filter while I was at it as it sits behind the glove box.

So removed a few bits of extra trim, and part of the air vent piping to reach the pollen filter, cursed a lot while trying to get the ridiculous metal clips off that hold the filter in place.

Finally managed to do it, pulled out the old disgusting filter, and went to put the new one in... only to discover they've sent me the wrong one and it doesn't fit...

Many swear words later, I gave the old filter a good waft around outside to get rid of what crap I could, then I put it all back together again, and fitted the new glove box in place. Which works a treat.

Going to have to get them to send out the right filter now and dismantle it all again later in the week.

Bah! :(

Replaced smashed wing mirror glass (apparently they're heated, I never knew)

put on a rubber cap that's supposed to seal my passenger side lights that I either did not put back on when I changed the bulb last time or it fell off as i didn't put it on properly. Absolutely no sign of old one anywhere so i suspect the latter.

Replaced footrest panel with one with a nice brushed allow footrest to match pedals.

That's as far as I'm going whilst the weather is so naff.

Tried out the DA polisher. Works very well and gives decent results quickly. Need nicer weather to use it properly though. Also found that some panel clips are missing so have ordered some from the bay.

Took my 330d to a friend/mechanic who is going to remove the swirl-flaps, change most of the filters, crank-case breather and give the car a good look over on a four-post lift over the next couple of days.

So it looks like I'm driving my dad's Fabia vRS for the next couple of days.

Today i cleaned it for the first time in about 5 months.

Noticed in the rear window brake light there is a dead fly stuck in there with that white fluffy crap growing off it... Nice.....

Expensive week for me.

1. New brake discs, pads, and calipers at the back, both sides. £300

2. Ran out of coolant, bought bottle of that £7.

3. Low on oil, bought 5L of that and did oil change £50 + 1L £10. Valvoile 5w-30 Fully Synthetic. Didn't have Castrol for sale.

4. For some reason my rear fog light bulb that I never use and the rear brake light bulb both went pop at the same time.

5...that's all for now and I am loathe to do anything else..

6. Check head gasket

Thats one hell of a conclusion to jump to. The coolant in the Golf is just above minimum, thats probably because the expansion tank hasnt been opened since i did the timing belt and water pump three years ago.

The oil on the Golf was low the other day (a third of the way up from min to max)

Oil and water levels can vary for a lot of reasons other than OMGHGF
