Stay in your lane round bends please

Not sure if this is a recent trend or if I'm just becoming more sensitive to this kind of thing, but I've noticed a LOT of people cutting corners recently.

Imagine you're on a single track road, approaching a bend. Suddenly, half way round the bend, you're confronted with a white van half way into your lane, who then swerves back into their own lane with a seeming reluctance like they've been inconvenienced.

This is almost a daily occurrence at the moment. If I get time I flash and / or beep them...most immature, but it makes me feel a bit better.

One day one of these people is going to tag my wing mirror, then I'll be on here having a real rant. Can people really not bear to remain on their side of the road these days, or is not having to brake more important than that? Maybe the fact that their car has 'Sport' in its model name has made them think they need to take the racing line at every opportunity.

Yeah, noticed this as well the last few years. Seems people think that because there's no centre line they're supposed to drive down the middle or something.

Cutting the corners off at T junctions is my current pet hate. Had a couple of cars come very close to the front of my MX5 lately. I live on a road with a pretty busy 'T' junction at the top, from which I turn right onto a busier road, and I find myself often having to break more slowly to avoid some numpty cutting the corner and swinging right to come down the road I live on.

If there's nobody coming and it's single track, then I'll use the whole road to avoid the massive puddles and potholes we have around here, but when going round a corner I'll always assume there's someone else on the other side. Why wouldn't you do that?

I have noticed quite a few people doing this on marked roads around bends as well though, I think the OP is onto something. Mainly vans and SUVs who don't seem to have a grasp of how wide their vehicle is.

Still amazed me how many people you see texting/on the phone though

Truly scary

Yes, this surprises me. On my way home, a 15-20 minute journey, on average I see 2 or 3, and most of the journey is on a dual carriageway at 70mph. Worrying stuff, but what can you do?

People straight lining roundabouts is my current gripe, I now assume that is what the person is going to do as they chop across two lanes.

It happens all too often on motorways as well, lane swerving for 5 seconds before realising and correcting in a sharp fashion.

My list of pet hates could fill the page so we won't go there..... :p

Yep, people who can't understand lane markings on large roundabouts do my head in. If you stick within the lane markings you can almost guarantee someone will go in the side of you if you don't take evasive action at some point. They will then glare at you as if you are the one that is in the wrong.

The ring road islands in Wolverhampton are a joke for this, Bilston Road island and the Chapel Ash island are the worst....people completely ignore the lane markings, use the left hand lane on joining the roundabout then drive all the way round to use the third exit etc...
