Performance in WOW and a few other games is getting worse so is it worth upgrading this card as I only have a PCI Express 2 motherboard (ASUS ROG Maximus IV Extreme Z68)?
I presume I could put a PCI-E 3 card in but it would kick down the performance.
Running 2600k at 4.6 with 16gb Ram and SSD.

Or do I bite the bullet and replace the lot?

Thanks for any advice.

I'm running GTX670 in SLI a it's quite good.

what's your PSU, budget and screen resolution?

PCIE2 vs 3 = no real difference at the moment.

A 670 in sli will have similar performance to a 780 ti.
You won't gain much (if anything) by upgrading your CPU, mem and ssd.

So do you spend £140 on a second 670

or

Upgrade your entire rig at a lot of cost for similar performance!

I don't think you need to upgrade from a 670 for WoW. If your performance is getting worse then something else is wrong.

£140 or so for a used 670 is the best option.
Although I do agree that you shouldn't really have any problems with WOW right now, could it be dodgy drivers or perhaps a very old win install or some outdated addon that is causing problems.

As others have said, low WoW fps shouldn't be a GPU problem - last I knew it was CPU limited. It's worth getting something like Afterburner to monitor your GPU usage while you play. My 6870 used to be under 60% used while just one CPU core was maxed and the others idled...

If you're looking for a good 670 to SLI, my MSI OC Power edition is still available on the MM forum :-) http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18581070

As someone who's just upgraded from 670 SLI to 780Ti SLI, I can tell you 2 x 670's are a fair bit better than one 780Ti, and one extra used 670 like mine is a hell of a lot cheaper.
And don't worry about PCIE2 vs 3 - makes no significant difference at all as others have already said
