Spot the sniper

Spot the sniper who took it to the extreme and used a T-80. :p

It started so well with the first couple, then went rapidly downhill with the rest....

Very impressive.

When I was 8 or 9 (I was a squaddie's kid) we were living in Hong Kong and open day was held for the kids, we were all taken up into the Jungle. In one of the events we were taken in small groups into a clearing and told we were surrounded by Ghurkhas and had 1 minute to spot as many as we could, needless to say we didn't spot a single one in that time and when they were told to stand up there were 12 of them, the nearest one was 5 feet from me the furthest was no more than 10 yards, scared the excrement out of us

If I remember correctly (old infantry training) there are a number of phases of battle: Battle Preparation, Advance, Reaction under effective enemy fire, winning the fire fight etc.

Camouflage and concealment comes under the heading of battle preparation. When we did our basic training in South Wales we were told by some of the instructors who had been to the Far East of a similar exercise where soldiers were told to go into a jungle area and identify as many foreign objects as possible. I believe they were told there were ten foreign objects. Apparently items such as a helmet would be hung in a tree, a combat jacket would be placed over a tree stump etc. Soldiers moved through the area identifying the items and of course some of them would identify ten items. When each of the soldiers had completed the exercise and the scores were compared one of the instructors (DS) would blow a whistle and out would step the ten Gurkhas.

I think the term for passing the sniper course is "Badged". I believe there are different levels of passing.

Most of them are just pics of landscapes and they've circled a random part to make us think there's someone there. At least get them to stand up to show us they're there.

Spotted 5 of them fairly quickly, the first one was instant. That mound just looked slightly unnatural.

It's surprising how the tiny end of the rifle barrel can actually grab your attention so much against the rest of the picture.

Some were impossible but I think it was partly the pictures and I'd probably struggle to see a bloke walking through at distance.

Some of these i just think the Daily mail ask trolling us and circling nothing. The one where he's up a tree.... Can not see anything.

This.

Also if he's "behind that rock" then there really *is* nothing to see.

Because rocks aren't transparent, last time I checked.

This is what I thought too, or a closer shot so you can see where they're hiding. Doesn't help that the picture quality is crap in the first place so you can't really see anything even when they're circled.

Made me do a barrel lol.

e : I have it on good authority that the way that real soldiers flush out snipers is by turning up their gamma and going FOV 100. Having a responsive mouse is of course essential.

Worked for me in Wolfenstein for years.

My the time I'd spotted most of those snipers they'd already made my head asplode with a .50 cal round. :(

Potential epic fail here, but is the red circle in number 3 wrong?

I can see what looks like a gun barrel a bit to the right (maybe one or two feet), underneath the tree with red leaves, resting on a tree root.

Some of their fieldcraft (positioning) would be a little suspect in a combat situation...but a decent sniper team would need to be trod on before being seen. Doing it from photos is more difficult anyway.

^ This.

"That lone mound in the middle of nowhere looks unusual... and my attention is drawn to it because it stands out so much" = Fail course.
Might just be my low-res monitor here at work, but it does look like random red circling.
Real life is very different because things move, focus changes and the view isn't all pixelly. Chances are they really won't be anywhere near that close, either!!
