RC Helicopters

I do have a centrury hawk heli pro with a toki 40 engine with all the upgrades in the garage, but due to getting married, getting a house and having a kid. I havent touched it for about 4 years, went to get it out and all the links have gone rusty fuel tank seals have gone. Now have to weigh up the cost of fixing it, or sell it for spares. At least with the one i have now i can hover in the back garden without going to the club which is about 15 miles away

got my parts now, with plenty of spares and a swash plate tool, all levelled out running -2 neg pitch and +8 pos pitch just had a quick hover as soon as it spun up it want to fall over to the left and had to put in a load of trim.

Going to strip the head again tomorrow and recheck the swash plate and linkages. On that note. I looked at the linkage lengths for a level swash plate they are off compared to the align manual.

They tend to fall left when you spin up. you have to catch it as you throttle up. Don't try to trim it out or you will not be able to fly it when you are in the air.

After flying a small 3ch RC Helicopter at the weekend I now have to buy one. I can't remember the model but it was a £20 Aldi purchase and much better than the price tag suggests.

Looking for a 4ch starter setup with a budget around £50, if that's possible.

Any recommendations?

Also i found it more stable when running a slower throttle curve of 0-10-20-30-40

Heliguy atom FP.

That seems backwards, I've always found my helis more stable with a higher head speed. I run my 130x at a 90% flat curve.....can't remember the standard curve but it still tops out at 80.

Sold my other models to fund another "project"....

wltoys v911, cheap, hard to break and easy to fix.
Can be had for £30 for the RTF kit, add £15 for a 5 pack of batteries and some spare blades and flybars and your good to go.

It should be better as it goes faster. 40 seems very low for full speed.
I'm running
norm: 0 - 60 - 70 - 75 - 80 (pitch 40 - 45 - 50 - 75 - 100)
st-1: 90 - 75 - 70 - 75 - 90 with a straight pitch curve

This is a 450se v2

+1 for the v911. Will get you into heli's and once you know what you are doing then you will want bigger :D

What project is this RB?

Helis were always a "whim" for me. Could never get passionate about them or see them as anything more than a toy. Put over £2000 in buying, building, selling etc over the last 18months.

I want to try something else where a mistake isn't going to potentially wipe out £000's is repair costs. I'm keeping the 130x and my radio as it's just plain fun. It's got every upgrade possible other than carbon frame and mini servos.

Going to have another go at shooting.....what man doesn't like the idea of owning a gun :)

Edit, if anyone wants a brand new 450 size case, I'll stick it up in the for sale section.

Fair point to be honest, I'm not passionate about it (that's for planes) but I always go back and fly (or want to fly) the 450. Had some replacement blade grips arrive so will be giving it a long overdue flight soon.

I've also done the guns :D Loved it, just didn't have any land to shoot on (had to rely on a mate) so sold them to buy a mountain bike!

How much are you looking for?

In other news. Any reliable links to where I can buy a v911 RTF for around £30?

Well it has over £200 of upgrades on it along with 7batteries and a carry case so sensible offers really. Not sure it's in the rules on here but if there's interest, I will put a FS thread up with pics.

Is the v911 really the best starter type model to go for?
