Well just as the title says really, i understand i will most likely need a new power supply to support it all so feel free to suggest one of those if you are feeling inclined.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

alright matey,

I have two 7950s. Did work ok on one 7950, but obviously the frame rate was a bit low, so grabbed a second. Things are a bit more demanding, bf4 runs just about at 60fps with on one screen while streaming a video on the other.

Would need more grunt if running one game i 3 screens i would have thought. I think a 280x is pretty much a re-branded 7970, so they may be ok. I would suggest stretching to a 290 if possible.

Maybe even two :p

games on one with video/chat on the other is what I do too, stick to that unless you have the cash/time for watercooling :o

I think my goal is very long term, but i dont want to waste money buying a card that is just good enough, but id have to replace it to achieve my goal. Im probably going to get a bunch of gentle typhoons for the meanwhile.
So which would be better (without having looked up all the specs and done the math)
- Two 290x
- Three 290/280x

three 290's beats two 290x
but three 290's on air would be loud
and watercooling 3 cards not cheap

probably cheaper to go 2x780ti and good air cooling
I duno depends how adventurous you feel :)

2x 290's would be your best bet I reckon. As mentioned by others though the noise would certainly be an issue! If you're not into water cooling it might be better to stick with the single screen for gaming.

Also consider 2x770 4gb, using 2x670 4GB with a Samsung 971D 27" 2560x1440p really nice its about the optimum size not to big not to small for gaming or tv/films.

I think im going to stick with AMD, (I'd rather support the cheaper underdog), so from this i will probably get a decent 290X so its a little more future-proofed, and get just the one monitor, for now, and see how well they work together, also ill play around with OCing it (If anyone has OCd this card and has any advice i'd appreciate it)
Thanks for your help guys. Really appreciate it

Don't get a 290X, get a 290 and flash the BIOS to a 290X - large money saving for pretty much a small amount of performance difference

This is pretty much gone by the wayside by my understanding, those were initial reference cards and it's a complete crapshoot as to whether you'll get an under binned GPU at all.

Go the 290, as has been stated the price / performance delta doesn't really justify the X.

Yeah, you guys are probably right, ive looked around a little more, and many others say the same, thanks for saving me a buck :D
What power supply would go well with what im aiming for btw? if you wouldnt mind :P

you need two cards to do it properly.

Yip, as most cards have not got enought grunt[horespower] to do it singular, but saying that l wonder if a Titan 6GB would be enough.

High DG hows things bud, opened me purse and upgraded see sig?
Oldphart.:)
