Looks like the gamble paid off. Now at 4.6 with 1.26v and it runs 5-9 c cooler, 4.5 only needs 1.22v, I'm happy with that.
After an hour of prime, more testing to do but I'm sure it will be stable.
I swap it for my 4770k if you what...Would you return it if it was bought solely for OC potential.
Same, as mine is such a toasty blighter.I swap it for my 4770k if you what...![]()

You've done well! I cant get mine past 4.3 stable regardless of what I throw at it! Granted I could mess about a bit more but based on volts alone even at 1.29v it doesnt seem stable at even 4.4 let alone 4.5ghz
Iirc p95 on blend maxed at 75c on mine after 15 minutes, small fft shot to 94c in a few seconds.
Tbh on a standard ihs haswell, custom watercooling doesnt seem to make an awful difference due to intels bodge job paste. They really need delidded to see any signifigant temp drop on water or air. May yet do it on mine as it has no warranty anyway.Custom loop setter before you buy the other 780 bud.
Dont honestly know how long ill keep this chip tbh mate. Could be a year or so, or ill just get an itch and want to move to something else in a few months time.Might be worth doing for a custom loop cpu+gpu's if keeping it for a good while, l would never go back to air.
What paste did you replace the intel stuff with? Liquid pro/ultra seem to work best.Temps on my delidded 4770K @ 4.5ghz with 1.31v and using Aida64 fpu stress test reach 85c.
