If running at 1080p @ 120Hz or (depending on future TFT's) maybe 1440p @ 120Hz.

What is the best to go for? If hypothetically speaking it's £280 more for 780Ti SLI.

I've been looking for benchmarks that show the difference between 780 SLI vs 780Ti SLI, but I cannot really find any, I'm guessing reviewers are reluctant to show these as it might not look good comparing apples to apples?

How much difference is there? Is it worth it going 780Ti SLI realistically? £280 to me sounds like a waste of money.

Thoughts?

Either will be bottlenecked on your i5 Nells.

780 SLI for 1080P seems ideal, as does 780TI SLI for 1440P imo. If you already have 780 SLI its not worth upgrading.

It's just breaking out of the idea of having the single fastest card, I've virtually always done this.

I was thinking just buying one 780Ti then buy another later on, but that's still a good £140+ more for one. Common sense is telling me it's a stupid idea.

The only place I saw some comparisions was infact the threads started by Kaapstad for the benchmarks.

Yeah, I've got a 4770k setup ready to build - L310 batch so should be good for a mininum of 4.6GHz on low voltage.

I've got my old HAF-X still, I could always get rid of my Carbide 540 to get some cash back, as the HAF-X will offer superior cooling with two cards.

Once you go multi gpu you never go back so id go for it. "Crossfire/SLI, because ones not enough". Fact.

I suppose I could go 2 x MSI 290 Gaming for around £40 less than 780 SLI after flogging the AC4 gaming codes. I probally need a new PSU though if I clocked the 290's, 750W not cut it?

Also I'm thinking by the time 780 SLI is too slow in gaming then 780Ti SLI would also be too slow in gaming, and it would be time for an upgrade anyway, so in that respect in my opinion 780Ti is a total waste of £280+ extra?

750W will do fine as long as you keep the 290's at 1100/1400 or lower. To be honest though id recommend 850W minimum and actually a 1000W would probably be most ideal.

So an extra £100+ after selling my old PSU probally... something to contemplate, my PSU is over 5 years old so probally time for a new one lol.

You would also get a free game with each Nvidia card, depending on which one's you went for.
I woudn't get around to playing AC4 anyway, got around 90 games I've bought in the last few months, guess I'll get around £20 for them.

Why would anyone buy 780Ti SLI for gaming currently? Just doesn't seem cost effective at all looking at everything.

I've recently gone 780Ti SLI (along with a new PSU) from a 670 SLI set up. It was a moment of madness really, but I don't regret it.

As to your actual question, in the real world there's not going to be a huge difference between SLI 780s and 780Ti's is there. But on the Ti box is says it's 25% better than the 780 so it must be good ;-) Actually it says 25% more cores, but you get my drift.

It's all down to cash and psychological gubbins really. Having a pair of the 'best' cards in the world feels cool for the short time they actually will be. On the other hand, saving £280 for probably v simlar gaming returns feels nice in a different way.

No help at all that was it :-)

sli 780's or xfire 290's is a fair chunk of power most people wouldn't need 290x's or ti in sli/xfrie but some choose to do it because... Well because they can want to like having awesome frame rates ,There is even those with 3 or 4 of the cards :D
Why overall do people spend the extra $$ for the performance boost well this is Overclockers cant expect us to all be sane
